Owning a standard first version DS myself, a friend of mine bought the DSLite and she is very pleased with the bright screen, reduced size and weight. However, upon holding the DSLite in my hands, cheap plastic feeling was all I got from my finger-tips. Is it me or is the DSlite really just cheap plastic? Very uncommon feeling among nintendo consoles, and especially the buttons/D-pad felt very odd for nintendo's standards. Is it any less durable as well? It feels nothing as solid as the GBAsp or GBmicro unfortunately. PS: being in a European country at the moment, she told me her DS had no strap. Is this the case for the american version of DSlite as well? Did only the JP version come with a wrist-strap? PS2: I ve seen shops selling the Metroid Prime Hunters:First Hunt demo in its hard-plastic case. Is this even supposed to happen?
I haven't noticed a difference in build quality with the us and jp ds lite models thus far (I own one of each), but I don't have a uk version to compare it to. yes, only the jp version of the lite was packaged with a wrist strap (in the cooresponding colour of the system). the metroid prime hunters: first hunt demo was packaged in a cardboard folding package, not a plastic one like the other retail titles. since many stores get dummy packages, it's possible that those stores have used the display boxes to package the demo carts for resale (which they shouldn't be doing in the first place). ps how's it going barc0de?
nice to see some import-invasion folk in here long time no see jmratkos welcome aboard! I know they shouldn't be reselling the demo, obviously, but then again i saw a what seemed like a bootleg Ps2 title (with the official sony seal) called "the son of the lion king". It had some horrendus pictures of gameplay behind the box, which included badly drawn lion king related crap. I can provide pics for anyone interested for a laugh PS: thanks for the DS back in the day still using the one you sent me
i just took out my old sp for comparision, and imho, both are of the very same quality. the only difference is that the gba sp buttons are a bit "clickier". the ds lite might seem to be more bendable, but thats just because of the increased width. on a sidenote, i bought a pink gb micro + 1gb flashcard as a present for my girlfriend the other day and was totally shocked when i found out its got a metal casing! actually, i think the micro is the sexiest handheld gaming system ever. the design might not be on par with psp or ds lite, but the sturdy construction, a display so tiny you cant actually make out individual pixels and its size make it absolutely awesome- such a shame nintendo timed the release so badly. imho, they should have released the micro instead of the gba sp, but maybe thats just me.
well the second version of GBAsp is the best in the GBA series. I wouldn't classify GBmicro as GBA due to the fact that GBA can play classic gameboy titles. GBmicro is indeed sexy, small and amazing to hold - especially the famicom edition is a great looker- too bad i m not willing to spend 100 euros for one.
due to the low interest, they sell for as low as 40 euros in some stores here in germany, barely more than a single game. i wouldnt have bought one for a "normal" price, either. too bad we dont have the famicom edition here in europe, its my favorite aswell.
Pff, I wish they'd do such a thing here... too bad I live too far away from the border to pay a little visit to Germany >_<.
At 150 bucks I wouldnt spect an iPod like finish on the lite either... Anyway, I totally agree with barc0de: the 2nd generation GBASP was the perfect portable: small, sleek and with a nice screen. I say the SP was a great innovation in console form factor, since every portable before that one were either vertical (GB) or horizontal (GG) bricks. Damn you sony! why you could make the PSP a clamshell portable?OH: Tell me about it, I'm 10000 miles from germany.... Why dont you order it by mail from the store? is like buying something in Austin TX and getting it delivered to Santa Monica CA. Hell, I think in your case the distance is shorter.
Frighteningly enough that PS2 game is official. It's a Euro only release, but it isn't a bootleg. Yay for budget titles. heh. -hl718
Here in europe the metroid prime hunters demo DID came in an plastic box. You can't blame shops for selling those, since there is market for it!
Well, there is a difference in living in different countries and living in different states.. on top of that I have only heard of 1 shop in Germany selling them that cheap, and that shop just happens to not have a webshop. But if a german member here could tell me a shop name, that would be great ^_^.
I've seen the famicom edition in the UK going for standard price (70 quid) . Regarding the son of the lion king.. using an expensive T-10.000 TOOL devkit for..that? wasted licensing fees on the devkit, and lack of talent, I wonder how they ever managed to persuade SONY's approval process :banghead:
