Does anyone know what the spec is for the 12v dc power connector that the blue debug consoles use? Where it's possible to get them or if someone has a spare power adaptor they don't want smf
You can post on the Buy/Sell/Trade forum if you're looking for one, but I'd recommend just switching out the power supply with one from a standard Playstation. It saves you a whole lot o' trouble.
Yeah, my backup plan is to either put a standard dc connector on it or put a new power supply. The later is preferable in case I ever find an external power supply as I can revert it to minty freshness, but as I don't have it yet I haven't been able to verify that you can just swap them. Although finding the connector spec would allow me to hack a standard dc power supply and that would be much better. Does anyone know what accessories they originally came with? smf
Go to radio shack, they'll be able to hook you up with a new power supply. The original ones are a bit tough to come across loose.
I believe it's called EIAJ RC-5320 Class IV 5.50mm (OD) x 3.3mm(ID) x 1.0mm(pin) http://www.wikimirror.com/DC_plug Cheers! CF
Ta, after a day of googling I came to that conclusion. Unfortunately it's not a standard connector over in the UK. Although I have found someone that sells imports them and sells in bulk. Otherwise I have found a few things that use the same power supply, but none of the radioshack equivalents seem to stock them ( we don't have radioshack ). I'll keep going ... smf
RS Electronics will have it, i'm pretty sure they'll ship worldwide. If not, let me know and i can get you the connector.
Hi -I know I'm resurrecting a very old thread, but thought this may come in useful for other people in the OP's situation (as I was very recently!): Unfortunately just swapping over the power boards (i.e. using one from a standard PSX) isn't as clear cut as it seems as the cable that connects the power board to the motherboard are different (the Debugger has six wires whereas the standard one has 5). However, this is based on my standard one being an SCPH-9002 which has had the parallel port removed, which may account for this (but I'm not sure, so don't quote me!). The solution I found was to buy a universal laptop power supply that has a connector for a Sony Vaio [no real surprise that it's Sony, eh ] - these can be bought from any Maplin store (or Radio Shack, if you're an American cousin) or the internet.
