DTL-H1500 Setup Utility 1.1

Only ASSEMbler has the hardware...so here's the software:

[1] Product Overview

The DTL-H1500 is a tool to operate the Debugging Station by the SGI.
The DTL-H1500 is connected to the Debugging Station PARALLEL I/O connector.
The DTL-H1500 and SGI are connected through Ethernet.

[2] How to set up

Please follow the steps below to connect the H1500 to the network for
the first time.

1) Connecting the H1500 to the Debugging Station
Refer to the figure in the "Operating Instructions" for
connection of the H1500 to the Debugging Station.

2) Initializing the H1500
Although the H1500 is initialized at factory-shipping, to be sure,
please follow the steps below to initialize the H1500.
To initialize, both the controller and the supplied CD-ROM are required.

Set all the H1500 SW1-SW4 to OFF(down).
Then power the H1500 ON.
Place the CD-ROM supplied with the Debugging Station.
Then power the Debugging Station ON.
The title and the menu will be displayed after started.

Select "INITIALIZE H1500" using up/down arrow keys and press
O or X button.
The message "ARE YOU SURE TO INITIALIZE? YES / NOÂhwill be displayed.
Select "Yes" using left/right arrow keys and press O or X button.
The initialization process will start.

The message "INITIALIZING H1500..." will be displayed.
The necessary data to be written will be transferred to the V25 side
through the Dual port RAM first. While transferring, the message
"COPYING TO DPRAM" is displayed along with the transfer data count-up.

Then, writing to the FLASH MEMORY will begin as indicated by the
message "WRITING TO FLASH MEMORY" along with the elapsed time count-up
(in seconds).
The time necessary for the writing is approximately in the range of
30 to 70 seconds depending on the Debugging Station.

After successful writing, the menu will be displayed again.

3) Setting IP Address and Net Mask
Select "SET NETWORK ADDRESS" using up/down arrow keys and
press O or X button.

"CURRENT SETTING" shows the current setting information.
At this time "NEW SETTING" has the same values as "CURRENT SETTING"
Change the "NEW SETTING" by selecting the item using left/right arrow
keys and modifying values using up/down arrow keys.

After selecting the item "ADDRESS SETTING", "MANUAL/BOOTP" can be
selected using up/down arrow keys.
To use "BOOTP", set values for the BOOTP server with reference of
"ETHER ADDRESS" shown at the "CURRENT SETTING".

After setting the desired values for the "NEW SETTING", select "WRITE"
using the left/right arrow keys, then press O or X button.
The contents of the "NEW SETTING" will be written to EE-PROM and
will be displayed at the "CURRENT SETTING".

WRITE: Write contents of the "NEW SETTING" to EE-PROM and
display them at the "CURRENT SETTING".
RELOAD: Override "NEW SETTING" with the "CURRENT SETTING".
EXIT: Return to the menu screen.

4) Networking the H1500 and SGI
After setting the correct IP address and others,
network H1500 and the SGI.
The H1500 can be connected only through Ethernet (10BASE-T type).

[3] Install Software Programs for the SGI

Programs for the SGI are provided in the supplied CD-ROM.
There are programs for reset, download and program execution.
Copy each program from the CD-ROM under "sgi/bin" to the directory
specified with PATH statement on the SGI.

Following files exist under the directory "sgi/bin".
1) reset15 Reset Debugging Station
2) bload15 Download binary data to Debugging Station
3) run15 Download program code to Debugging Station then execute
4) pload15 Download program code to Debugging Station
5) pgo15 Direct the Debugging Station for program execution

[4] Operation Test by the SGI

1) Make the H1500 operable through Ethernet
In order to make the Debugging Station operable by the SGI,
set the switches at the H1500 front panel as follows;
SW1, SW2 : ON SW3, SW4 : OFF

2) Reset the Debugging Station

3) Check the response by issuing "ping" from the SGI

4) On the SGI, execute the command "reset15 -m xx.xx.xx.xx"
Âiwhere xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address set for H1500)

5) Check to see that the color-bars on the monitor becomes out of
vertical-sync for a moment

NOTE) When the disc cover is closed, it takes time to recognize a CD.
Thus "reset15" command may take approximately 7 seconds to execute.

[5] How to Use Command

For all commands described below, the IP Address can be set for
the environment variable "H1500" or specified directly with "-m" option.

1) reset15 [-m <IP-Address>]
Using "reset15" can reset the Debugging Station by the SGI.

Example) Reset the Debugging Station that is connected to H1500
with IP Address = 192.168.10.10.
% reset15 -m 192.168.10.10
or
% setenv H1500 192.168.10.10
% reset15

2) bload15 [-m <IP-Address>] <Filename> <Address>
Using "bload15" can download the binary data to the Debugging Station
from the SGI.

Example) Download "map.tim" to the address $80180000 of the Debugging
Station that is connected to the H1500 with
IP Address = 192.168.10.10.
% bload15 -m 192.168.10.10 map.tim 80180000
or
% setenv H1500 192.168.10.10
% bload15 map.tim 80180000

3) run15 [-m <IP-Address>] <Filename> [args ...]
Using "run15" can download the program code to the Debugging Station
from SGI and then execute the program.

Example) Download "balls.exe" to the Debugging Station that is
connected to the H1500 with IP Address = 192.168.10.10 and
execute the program.
% run15 -m 192.168.10.10 balls.exe
or
% setenv H1500 192.168.10.10
% run15 balls.exe

4) pload15 [-m <IP-Address>] <Filename>
Using "pload15" can download the program data to the Debugging Station
from the SGI. Since "pload15" does not execute a program, it is
necessary to start the program execution using "pgo15" after "pload15".

Example) Download "balls.exe" to the Debugging Station that is
connected to the H1500 with IP Address = 192.168.10.10
% pload15 -m 192.168.10.10 balls.exe
or
% setenv H1500 192.168.10.10
% pload15 balls.exe

5) pgo15 [-m <IP-Address>] <pc-addr> [<sp-addr>]
Using "pgo15" can order the program execution start to the Debugging
Station from the SGI. Since "pgo15" does not download the program,
it is necessary to download the program data prior to "pgo15".

Example) Order the program execution start at $80010000 to
the Debugging Station that is connected to the H1500
with IP Address = 192.168.10.10
% pgo15 -m 192.168.10.10 80010000
or
% setenv H1500 192.168.10.10
% pgo15 80010000
