Hello! It's my first time posting on the forum, so...nice to meet you^^

I own a DTL-H30001. It's a NTSC-US model, with the AC adapter modded so it would work in PAL regions (I'm from Europe). Except for occasional Disk Read Errors, it works fine. However, after testing PS1 games, I think I need other cables.

When I tried playing a PS1 game first, it would just show me a black screen after the PS1 logo - no video, no audio, no nothing. My first thought was a laser failure (although it would be weird, as CD based PS2 games work fine). After using a laser cleaning disk without success, I hooked up my PS2 to directly to the TV, without using my DVR (Hauppage HD-DVR) inbetween. And then, it worked somewhat (or atleast, I got a signal). However, depending on the cable I use, I get different results:

a.) YPbPr/Component Cable (3rd party): the screen is shifted to the bottom (and a bit to the right), so that a part of the picture is cut off.
b.) Composite/RCA Cable (tried several): The screen has stripes and the color looks faded.
c.) S-Video (got this cable with the console, it's RCA and S-Video combined): I cannot get it to work at all, but maybe I do something wrong here as I've never used S-Video before.

I can upload pictures of a.) and b.) if needed.

While I cannot get a single PS1 game from either region to work with the DVR, I only get these sideeffects with PAL games. NTSC works fine on both cables. As for the DVR, I know that it has also problems to display my Wii in 60 Hz mode (although PS2 games work fine in 60 Hz). It's shitty anyways, don't buy it - the delay during recording is huge.

Now finally, my question is: Will other cables help getting PAL PS1 games to be displayed properly?

Extra question: Could anyone recommend a good DVR, without delay while recording?

EDIT: Sorry for the Extra 0 in the description link, it's a typo.
