I have a DTL-H30002 TEST unit, but I can't seem to get the BBA or the HDD utility discs to work with it and I guess I could need some help with this.

I've been reading through the various topics about it here, and here's the 'results' I've got so far:

    Hardware:
    TEST DTL-H30002 (Serial: 33XXXX)
Sony Network Adapter SCPH-10281 (Serial: 12XXXXX) (BBA/Modem thingy)
Various Maxtor and Seagate HDs, ranging from 40gb -> 160gb. (no official Sony HD, but will get one soon from the FFXI pack)

    Software:
BBA Utility disc (US) (the one that came with the BBA)
HDD Utility Disc v1.10 (US) (from a friend's FFXI kit)
BBA Utility disc (EU) (borrowed from another friend)

    Now,

BBA (US) disc boots fine, everything works/plays fine, but if I try to enter the ISP setup, it goes into an infinete loading screen.
-After making an ISO for patching it to master, I get slammed in the face with a message that the iso can't be patched (Exe not found, etc..., even if manualy pointed to the file). And after that, it locks the file and just stops letting me interact with the tool at all and for some reason does "something" to the ISO atleast, as if I force shutdown the program, windows claims the file was last written to at the moment I force shutdown the patcher.

HDD (US) disc shows the "Playstation(r)2" screen, then goes black.
-After master patching, same happens :/

BBA (EU) doesn't boot at all for me.
-After making an iso, same story as with the US disc.

I've recently also tried patching some other DVD ISOs I've had in hand, with success, but there "might be" a chance I made those earlier with a different tool, can't remember (Can't recall ever using anything but dvd decrypter though)

There seems to be nothing wrong with my TEST, as it plays discs just perfectly fine (PSX: Any region + CD-R media. PS2: Any region, CD/DVD + recordable media as long as it's master patched)

I'm just wondering, am I doing anything wrong ?
Have I missed out on anything?
Could the Expansion port be busted?

Anyone able to help me out here with a few pointers/tips or something?

Would be thankfull for any help/tips/hints I can get

    [edit]
Someone just told me that a PAL unit wont bypass the region check of a BBA Utility disc. But was there ever such a thing as a Euro/PAL BBA Utility disc? (evt. with the version of the TEST that came with a HDD/BBA?)

I just hope I don't have a system with a broken Expansion port, as that would require me to get a new one -_-

I think there is a high probability that you will never be able to run utility discs on DTL-H30002. As discussed in another thread, which you have probably already read, it seems that a firmware update is required to make these other generation units run the utility discs. And if the unit doesn't already have the update then you are not going to be able to have that done without having some really good contacts from within Sony.

The main purpose of the disc patching software was to patch games, so there is no real surprise that it doesn't work properly for utility discs. But it seems that there are two different types of utility discs one the regular type (HDD Utility, DVD driver, BB Nav etc) and then, judging by what you say, a sort of hybrid disc that doesn't boot straight to utility disc files. So when you do go to run the utility format files within the disc it just stops, like when you try and boot a regular utility disc.

In relation to HDDs, the only ones which will work with the HDD utility are the official Sony ones. The only way of using a third party one is to put in an auto-ata patching mod-chip, but please don't even consider doing this to a TEST.

The expansion port is unlikely to be broken as other members here have had the same problem with the expansion port, and I believe this all relates back the firmware/utility disc issues.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but chances have it that you will not be able to run any game that requires the use of the HDD with your DTL-H30002.

So that pretty much leaves me with no other choice other than to get ahold of another TEST that supports the HDD and is preferably 220/240v compatible, unless it's safe to swap the PSU board from one system to another.

As I seem to recall reading that there are no know "public way" for evt. doing a firmware dump from an updated system and then somehow apply that to an unupdated system. (Flash, memory card, whatever...)

But thanks for the help atleast, makes me a little less clueless.
