So, I have a DTL-H30101 TEST PS2 and I am trying to play a burned game on it. I downloaded Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2 iso and patched with xorloser's (I think) to master disk. Then I used DVD Decryptor to burn it onto a DVD+RW. The PS2 did not read the disc. Is the problem that I'm using a DVD+RW and need to use only a DVD-R? EDIT: I burned the same .iso to a Memorex DVD-R and it said "Reading disc..." for a lot longer than the DVD+RW (about 10-15 minutes) and then finally error with "Could not read disc.". Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong?

Well, your post is not correct as i reburned the games onto a Sony DVD-R and it plays them perfectly and plays all my retail games perfectly as well. I agree that the console cannot play DVD-RW's.
PlayStation 2 consoles generally struggle with recordable media, unless it's high quality. Use Verbatim DVD-R discs that were manufactured by either Taiyo Yuden or Mitsubishi. DVD+/-RW discs are not supported, and would put a heck of a strain on the laser even if it worked.
SONY has a warning on the PS2 development kit instructions (pdf files) warning about the risk of damage on the development kit hardware (PS2 TOOL and PS2 TEST) if you attempt to use rewritable media. Obviously to damage it you would need to insist a lot. Lucky you. Don't test your luck again.
