Hey all I recently acquired a DTL-T10000H. I have managed to login, and attempt to run various games with the command reset 2 100 The game begins to load however I find myself getting stuck after the opening sequence and it requesting that I plug in a DualShock 2. What I can't understand is the controller is plugged in. Are my controller ports are faulty or is their another issue at large here.
Is your controller a DualShock 2, connected to port 1? DualShock controllers might cause such an error.
Yeah it is all connected correctly. Even if I put a second controller into port 2 I get no red lights on either controller.
Did you connect the controller before starting up the game? Is your game a retail copy or is it a debug/development version? Have you tried other games?
Yeah connected all before I even turned it on. I have tried an Australian retail copy of GTA San Andreas and an Australian retail copy of Manhunt. I do not have debug discs as they are pretty hard to find these kits where I am in Australia.
I don't know of any other posssible reasons, sorry. Someone else with more experience on using TOOLs will have to chime in. :/ The games are still running at that point, aren't they? TOOL kernels might have more debugging checks, which will cause the game to get debugged (a breakpoint will get hit and the game will freeze) if the game breaks certain TRC rules. If this is the case, then a reset step with 0x000f0002 0x100 should allow you to start the game properly... although it seems unlikely. What is your TOOL's flash ROM version? When you issue the reset command from dsidb, you should see something like this: CPUID=15, ROMGEN=2004-0826, CACH_CONFIG=1edd8, 8MB, IOP mode, ROM boot <20040826-112724,ROMconf,dnas300.bin:11856> Have you taken apart the unit before?
Yeah the game is still running. I did the reset with the reset 0x000f0002 0x100 and still have the same issue boots and loads the game, gets to ask about a memory card or controller and as soon as I try to press a button to select an option I get no response. I have not had the opportunity to pull it apart. CPUID=15, ROMGEN=2003-0604, CACH_CONFIG=1edd8, 8MB, IOP mode, ROM boot <20030604-214230,ROMconf,t10000-re1280.bin:11856>
This is possible (and will probably be hard to fix because there are no service manuals for the TOOL), although I think that physical damage is more likely because these TOOLs are known to be difficult to ship in one piece. Have you tried another controller, preferably one that is known to work properly? Was the TOOL working fine before shipping? For all we know, it could be damage to the ribbon flex that connects the controller and memory card ports to the mainboard. I read of one set that had such damage.
The front of it has lifted away from the top. I have tried 3 controllers all that work on my TEST PS2 and my slim PS2. I believe you may possibly right maybe the cords have come away. Seeing as the front had raised from the the body. I am looking for a memory card at home to check the if the memory card ports have an issue. Will let you know what I find out
Have tested with the game ONI. Have established that not even the memory card ports work. As the console does not recognise anything plugged. Are the controller ports and memory card ports all in one piece. Is it possible the wires may be damaged or pulled from its connector?
I have just pulled apart an old FAT SCPH-39002. I see that they are infact all in one piece together. Would it be possible to take the ports from this and use it in the TOOL? I understand it is more likely that wires are not connected to the board correctly however should I find that the TOOL ports are faulty. Can this ports be used?
I remember that the TOOL shares parts with the SCPH-10000, but I do not remember whether the controller and MC port module is compatible with the one from the SCPH-39000 series. You could try... But if you do unclamp the ribbon flex from that module, do it gently because it can break off under excessive force. I've already broken the clamp on the pad/MC module of my SCPH-39006, and I am already considered fortunate because that wasn't a rare TOOL.
At this point check the fuses. open the tool and make a photo, i see if i can help you. Ah! you must have a tester to check the continuity of the fuses
Thanks guys for all your help and guiding me. Really appreciate it. I will get around to pulling it apart ASAP and show you what I find.
FYI, the controller port PCB on the TOOL is different from the SCPH-10000. The molded plastic part is the same thing apparently, though.
