Interesting that's goint to have PS3 and Xbox360 ports. Curious to see if this ends up any good or fun at least,
why? its NOT a survival game your supposed to be a bad ass trying to save the world kick some alien ass and get some striper service
I'd hope for this to be simple good oldfashioned fun, and consider autoregen health among the worst offendings in modern gaming decadence. In the footage it also looked like Duke can only carry a limited number of guns at a time. Maybe now he really is the Master Chief without his armor...
well DNF isn't meant to be true to life health regenerates on its own that means you can focus more on the actuation and the adventure rather then worrying am i going to die from this because thats not very action hero and do we really need more then 5 or so weapons in DNF? why do we need 10 wepions 3 of them being hand guns? if memory serves me right in the older DNF you had a revolver, a magnum, and a semi automatic hand gun
I don't care about realism, but health regen steals the fun out of my FPS. Less than 10 weapons (5 are a bit too few, though) are fine as long as I get to carry them around all at the same time. I saw one of the quys who played it at PAX dropping a gun before picking up another, which could hint at an atrocious 2-weapon-at-a-time system a la Halo (no, I'm not very fond of Halo. Almost bored me to death with its stupid new design philosopy every damn new shooter since then seems to be so eager to copy /exaggeration).
apparently im jumping the gun about how many weapons there will be the consoles dont have 10 free buttons so thats why we only see 4 weapons for the demo witch is being demoed on the 360 at pax is that the weapons are mapped to the d-pad but the pc will have 10 weapon slots and ALL weapons are confirmed in the game by this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYPBmRcGxqs and whoopty do you can throw a weapon away if you want to DNF certainly ISN'T a copy or clone of any FPS today being able to actually piss in the urinal should of told you that the health regain WONT hurt anything.. DNF has ALWAYS been about the action and fun and NOT about surviving a FPS so not worrying about health means you can enjoy the game but that DONT mean you cant die you can its just going to take alot duke is supposed to the an action hero after all
The fact that you have a health meter at all is what makes it an action-hero game. (compared to in real life where it takes about 1 bullet or alien claw attack to take me down to 0%) Regen on top of that seems like overkill. Even so, I'll probably pick up DNF when it comes out, if my computer can handle it. Should be interesting, if nothing else.
Gearbox has release some really good games. I love Borderlands and Brothers in Arms series. They know what they're doing so I'm confident this will be a quality game.
