it seems that the original dos games duke nukem 1 and 2 sidescrollers were included with the original duke nukem 3d release, i'm wonddering if anyone knows if these games are also included with duke nukem megaton edition? i know that megaton edition supposed to contain the original duke nukem 3d game without the enhancements so i was thinking maybe the dos duke nukem 1 and 2 are contained within the original duke nukem 3 mode. just wondering if anyone could let me know because i was thinking of buying it and would like to play the 2 old titles on my big tv screen. faling that does anyone know of any duke games released for console which contain the two old sidescrller games? or maybe the port of duke nukem 3d for xbox would contain them? any info would be great guys
.... Hmm... For some reason I don't remember Duke 3D having a bundle with the earlier games...... But I'm sure every digital copy of Duke 3D Megaton doesn't come with the older games that's for sure.
The earlier games were bundled on the duke nukem 3d cd, however they were not included in any console version. I think some of the DOOM 3 console games had the first two doom games.
The BFG Edition (on Steam, Xbox 360 and PS3) has ports of the first two games, and the Collector's Edition of Doom 3 for the Xbox does too.
I have the original boxed DOS release, no other games included in it , not even demos of the 2d sidescrollers
well it seems that only specific versions of the game included those two sidescrollers. i purchased the megaton edition anyhow, game is too much fun not to play through this enhanced version. i did not know the first two duke games were included on doom 3 bfg edition for 360. i have completed that aswell and i guess i never checked for bonus features. what i done the other night is find full versions of those 2 duke sidescroller games on abandonware websites and copied them over to my xbox and they played fine using dosxbox,i'm going to fire up my 360 copy of doom 3 bfg edition though just to find them on it. thanks for all the replies and info guys.
Yes, for the original XBox I have: Doom 3 Limited Collector's Edition, which has Doom and Doom 2 included, and (according to the box, I've not tried it) allows you to play splitscreen co-op and deathmatch in Doom and Doom 2, and Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil (Mine looks like a standard edition, judging by the case), which includes Ultimate Doom (which is Doom 1 with an extra episode, four episodes instead of three), Doom 2, and Master Levels. No mention if there's splitscreen multiplayer or not, on the box. Although if your original XBox is modded, then you can use Doom X or Odamex which also allow you to use fan made levels and total conversions (Odamex has more features, including on-line play, and greater compatibility with fan made mods, but Doom X has a more friendly front-end).
my favorite doom collection so far is doom classic complete for ps3. i completed it all over xmas 2013 season. i misread one of the replies and thought i read that the two old sidescoller duke games were included with doom 3 bfg edition which i guess would have been very unlikely. the only fficial doom i have not completed yet is doom 64, i have played quite far into it with my everdrive 64 but not completed it yet. i will go back to it one day.
