What are some good suggestions on how to safely dump copy-protected floppy disks online? I recently won the bid on the 3-disk FM TOWNS version of the original Asuka 120% BURNING Fest., which is freakin' rare.
Hi, what do you mean for "dumping online"? If I'm not wrong this game is protected so normal dumping method (using a 3-mode floppy) won't work. You should try to use a Kryoflux controller in order to correctly read it.
I can't buy it right now until this Christmas. I may have to borrow it from someone along with a 3.5 floppy drive that works with it.
A chap I used to be in constant contact with (he also posted under 'DamienD' on Tokugawa corp) seemed to think that a version of Omniflop and a 3-mode floppy drive I had bought, would work. Sadly we never met up to try it and he's not about these days. Would using an actual FM Towns assist at all (and if so, how)? I have one of those FM Towns II all in one units to hand and I'm pretty sure my copy of the game is to hand too!
The game hasn't been dumped online, yet, and I wish it was preserved online. I contacted a couple of local libraries to see if they have anything that saves data from floppy disks to modern-day computers and they don't.
Well please keep me posted. I'm guessing Omniflop and 3-mode is a no go? I have absolutely no idea about any of this stuff, I just play games. But I have a few other floppy disk FMT games I would like to back up too..Gorby etc.
Item received by mail! Now I need to know how to at least play it in UNZ. I also need to know whether I should use the KryoFlux or send it to this society: http://www.gamepres.org/
