Information on this has been very thin. I have a NPDP cart I would like to dump. How would I go about doing this? Is it possible to dump through a NPDP GBOX? If I have to crack open the cart and toss the HDD into a computer, what program would be able to dump the HDD? (I have a Windows 7 64-bit PC for the record). Any help would be appreciated.

umn its some sort of PATA converter... idk if its a custom header to the NPDP or if its pata to scsi or something? either way your gonna need 2.5" pata adapterto sata or usb...

If you're talking about the connector on the cart, I don't think that's a pata connector. If you mean the HDD inside, it's a IDE HDD. Toshiba, in fact.

Actually, it just requires an NPDP reader(The red gamecube one) and a stock gamecube that can run homebrew.

Step 1: Take apart both the stock cube and the NPDP cube.
Step 2: You load up a disc dumping program on the stock cube.
Step 3: You remove the DVD drive from the stock cube and plug in the reader part from the NRDP cube (with the card inserted).
Step 4: Tell the dumping program to commence dumpage.

That should work. I have never done it myself, but I know emu-kidid has. If you have questions, PM him here or go to gc-forever.com.

The HDD in the card it encrypted. I think it has been discussed before on here, but I can't remember details. End of story is that plugging it into your computer won't do anything useful.

You can do it the way paul.strickler1 suggested (and it may work or you might need to do the NPDP init too on the dumping software - let me know) OR you can connect the IDE HDD to a PC (direct, no SATA/USB converter) and unlock it via the master password tmbinc has mentioned somewhere on this forum. If you dump it via PC, you will need to decrypt the hdd dump, but it's pretty easy to do as it's all XOR'd with a constant 32bit key and there are known empty sections on a GCM image. Again, let me know if you need any help.

Sadly, I don't have a NPDP cube. Would taking the the NPDP slot from a GBOX and attaching it to the retail Cube work? I haven't taken mine apart yet, but N3TKaT has a nice internal pic[FONT=verdana, arial, sans-serif].

I'm not sure what lays inside the housing and if it would be similar to the NPDP reader.

No, that won't work unfortunately. if you have a GBOX why not use that (I don't have one and have never used one, but I'm sure you could work something out). Alternatively, you can ship the cart to me, I can dump it for you and then ship it back (without busting the cart open).

Emu_kidid have you written a faq / how to on dumping via this swap method?

Can you publish clearly once and for all the master passwords and methods for pc dump / decrypt?

Not yet, I plan to make a guide when I get around to it, you'll certainly see it when it's done.

The drivers in the SDK are for Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0 which is too outdated for my PC. I also know the NPDP GDEV can write NPDP carts if you have the NPDP WIF card. However, for dumping, I haven't come across anything in the SDK.

For dumping it'd be as simple as writing a DOL that would use the standard DVD commands to read the disc out. I'll put some priority on writing that guide.

couldnt you use losers doltool and turn retail dumping software to an elf file then dump the cart that way?i just got my NDEV the other day and its all setup and running like a champ... (with some help from cmonkey. We were both stumped thanks to the fact that the NDEV doesnt know how to tell the difference between component and AV) however, in a matter of 3 days ive learned so much about this hardware and software its not even funny. you can easily install that stuff into a win2k virtual machine bro.with some trial and error im pretty sure you can get anything retail running on that GBOX.

Send me your cart, that'd be far easier. Or remove the top half of the NPDP Reader and place it on a standard GameCube and run something like CleanRip to dump it.

Thanks for your answer. I prefer to do it by myself, as I have several carts to dump. I will try the CleanRip thing, thanks a lot !

Hello Emu-kidid, is the swap method dangerous for the NPDP cart or the NPDP reader drive ?

Also, did you got time to write a document, as asked by Assembler ?

    Thanks !
