Hi. I know a thread was just made about a month ago asking about dumping GBA games (2 or 3 threads below this one, maybe). But I don't know if the devices listed there apply to this kind of prototype cartridge and I also didn't want to derail the thread, especially since I have another concern. Anyway... Here's a GBA game prototype I have: http://contrapedia.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/5db6s.png (note, picture is not mine, but I have the proto now). I'm looking for the easiest and also safest device to use to backup the game's ROM. "Safest", I mean as there is little to no risk of corrupting the ROM in the process. I read in another thread about how if a certain backup tool isn't used very carefully (and things tend to go wrong for me from experience), the ROM is long gone. A USB based connection with the device is ideal, if possible. This proto didn't fit into my GBA SP (strangely, it worked on the previous owner's GBA SP), so that has me concerned about whether some of the backup devices out there will have the same problem. It fits and plays fine on a DS Lite though, and perhaps a regular GBA. Help is appreciated, so is any links to purchase the device; and who knows, perhaps that will be another release
This is the method I used to dump one of those carts, though I used the GBA backup tool to do it. The DS Lite's GBA slot isn't as recessed as the GBA SP's so it fits. I had that same problem with my GBA SP as well.
Thanks! I'll use the GBA Backup Tool program. Which flash cart do you use/recommend and where I can purchase it?
I used a DS iPlayer flashcart. I believe there is a version of this for the R4, but I can't confirm since obviously never used that. If you look on their site it gives you different websites where to buy as well as the firmware download.
