Dumping and reading a PS2 HDD on a PC

So I have a PS2 HDD (came from an external PS2 HDD that's seen better days). I was wondering if it was possible to dump and read the contents on a PC?

Maybe "WinHIIP" can read it? that or put it in a PS2 and FTP into it I guess.

Thanks! I tried Winhiip, however it said PS2? and didn't recognize it.
