I would like to backup my savegame of Yoshi's Universal Gravitation with an old Flash Advance Linker. I can dump the rom, but not the savegame unfortunately. GBA games have different save types (SRAM, EEPROM) and sizes. I think the Flash Advane Linker can only read SRAM and the game uses EEPROM. I also tried Little Writer, but it has only an option for SRAM. Is there any software available for the flash advance linker which can dump all type of savegames? I don't want to buy an extra cable or adaptor just for a single game.
I use one of these, it works with every save type the gba uses. Only useful though if you want to backup, if your looking to get the saves onto your pc then its not much use. I have a 8 meg one & it holds a ton of saves for all my collection, fast, reliable & high quality. http://www.consoleplus.co.uk/product_info.php?pName=4mb-sms-memory-backup-stick-for-gbasp
A really interesting product, thanks for the info. However I would prefer a solution that works with the Flash Advance Linker.
Do you know C? uCON64 supports the FA, but doesn't have a function to read EEPROM. This could help you implement it: http://nocash.emubase.de/gbatek.htm#gbacartbackupeeprom
A few years ago I managed to back up and load savegames from flashcarts to original cartridges and viceversa, but... I've only tried it with two Sram cartridges, Megaman Battle Network 2 and Final Fantasy I & II Dawn Of Souls. (BTW, Megaman BN2 Pal and Usa savegames seem to be compatibles) For the record, I used and old version of FAW32NT for parallel port writers and a F2A Linker.
I don't know if this will work, but i use a F2A Ultra (usb) with "Flashmanager" to backup saves/roms. Website: http://mootan.hg.to/fmgba/ Here the link for the english version of this software: http://mootan.hg.to/download/FM300E.zip It's shareware but used it for 1 year now or something to backup or restore saves.
I used to patch GBA games that had an EEPROM save type to SRAM using GBA Tool. I assume you are trying to backup a save from an original cart, so this info may be of no use to you unless you play a patched version. I've attached the readme file only.
Yes, I am trying to backup a save from an original cart. I tried the Flashmanager software, but it's not compatible with the old Flash Advance Linker. I think I need a Flash2Advance Parallel Linker cable.
