Hey just throwing this out there because I am bored. I am curious if anyone is familiar with EA games and the locations. There is an EA building in Salt Lake City, Utah right downtown. I am curious what games may be in development there. A few years back I wanted to try and dumpster dive the area and see if I could find any documents/hardware or anything game related for the matter. The building is shared with other businesses so I am unsure IF they have their own dumpsters..or if they share a dumpster. Maybe they have their own inside the building not sure. I know a gym and a few other businesses are in there but have yet to try walking in and around the building. thinking about trying it until i get kicked out haha. On the side alley there is two dumpsters, and in the lower back near a parking garage there is one bigger dumpster. I went back the other day to check it out and saw a cleaning lady taking out the garbage and noticed that the bigger dumpster was locked by just a fence, the dumpster themselves weren't locked. i saw her lock the gate to it. an she proceeded into the building down a loading ramp into the building. this was all seen through a fence...so now i have the two locations I might just hop and see what I can find.

Make sure to check local laws about dumpster diving, you don't want to get caught doing something illegal.

Every single company I have worked for shredded or otherwise destroyed all media before trashing them, so don't go in expecting stacks of discs with release candidates of Madden or things like that. Papers are very easily thrown away though, and often without much thinking, so you might get lucky there.

Just to be sure are we talking EA Games or EB Games.
There's a big difference here and I just need to know if this wasn't a mistake.

But like Charels mentioned - be sure you check local laws. You may get into trouble if you're not careful.

most companies will use a secure document shedding company, the bins they used are locked when not in use

Also, if there's a fence around the bin and a lock, you are **stealing**. It is clearly not what most people would class as common trash.

I totally agree. After finding out its mobile only atm I'm less interested in doing a dive there. Well id just be taking the bags and driving off to go through them somewhere else obviously but its not worth the effort to me for mobile.

In many jurisdictions, it's theft period. Once an object goes into the dumpster, it becomes the property of the sanitation company (who dumps/recycles/reuses/sells the load).
