btw, iirc there was a version of Dune II that lets you mark more than one unit and move them somewhere with a right click. or am i just wrong?
Yeah, back then it was awesome (as were most Westwood games, actually). The inability to select multiple units makes it pretty unplayable nowadays though - afaik there never was an official version that did away with that limitation, there's shitloads of hacks out there though so maybe you're thinking of one of those. I prefer the "Dune II - The Maker" remake over the original because of that.
Has EA given this out as freeware yet? If not, it's sad that they haven't (they gave us 3 C&C games already).
Not yet, and since Dune was never as big as C&C I doubt they'll ever get around to it. Even if a new dune title showed up, Dune 2000 would be far more likely to be used as a "promo gift", what with not everyone knowing how to use DOSBox etc.
Abandonware sites aren't really all that legal. Just some publishers don't bitch about older games to be removed. C&C on the other hand, EA's official site offers links to dl some of them for free.
i know i know but i wasn't even talking about a REAL abandonware site whatever. you can get Dune II on ebay for a dollar anyway
I just couldn't get around the inability to select multiple units. God knows how you'd play test that thing and not think "wish I didn't have to move these 10 units individually".....100 times a mission. Dune 2000 was quite good though. Nice graphics.
Yeah, you can't even save yet so you'll have to finish each campaign in a single session, the options menu is non-existant, etc - but for a quick fix it's great. I've also come across another promising remake titled "Dune IV" by some ukrainian(?) guy, haven't played it yet though.
22. Like Druid II I started with C&C, so that will be the reason why I couldn't do with the single unit selection.
thats why i was asking mate. no offense i think i'll try that Super Dune II hack later that let's you play the fremen
