Last I checked the Duo X2 came with Flashbios on it. You can actually connect your XBox to your network and access the system using a standard browser (Firefox, IE9, whatever) and upload a new BIOS there. It can also be flashed using a DVD if you really want. Personally I use the last X2 5xxx BIOS. I believe it was 5035 but there might be a later revision out there. Should handle 99% of your needs.
Download Auto-Xbins 2008 , you should be able to get your Bios there. They have all sorts of neat things for you
The only problem is that auto xbins has a built in IRC and FTP client which every anti-virus scanner picks up as a virus. I can assure you that it isn't a virus and is very safe.
I tried it....then what do you do....does it down load some web site to get bios.....what do i do? and yes i didn't turn off my norton and it said it erased it off my pc....I a little in the unknown...
Certain DuoX2 chips (earlier blue models) came shipped with hacked bioses on both banks. One for 1.0-1.5 and the other for 1.6(b). I prefer Xecuter2 4981 bios for 1.0-1.5 as they boot faster (does not wait for HDD spin up to read config file) but if you have a 1.6(b) Xbox I would go for Evox M8+ for 1.6. The only advantage of X2 Config Live is to block Xbox Live connection and now that Xbox Live for Xbox1 is dead there is no point anymore. You can modify bios settings prior to flashing them with XBtool for Xecuter 4981 and EVtool for Evox M8+. If you have flashbios flashed on one of the bank I suggest you flash via web Browser. A stated earlier your xbox IP address will be shown on the TV (providing your Xbox is connected to the network with DHCP working). I suggest you flip the little switch on the modchip to switch bank once the Xbox is booted, that way you'll flash the new bios to the other of the 2 banks on the chip. This will ensure you still have a bank with flashbios on it in case something goes wrong.
Thank you...i have the Xecuter bios so I'll go with them...thanks...i have one other question can you put linux on this chip. I remember seeing back a few years ago someone I saw had a xbox with this right on the menu of the xecuter menue. you know the screen that comes up after it boots up(skins) it show linux right on there and you could just move down to it and it would load it right up. I sure thought that was pretty cool...just wondering, any help would be good. You guys have already put me so far ahead of where i was before i talked to you all...thanks to everyone!
