I pickup a rather ugly condition XBOX today, I only bought it for the fact it had a modchip... I remember back in the day if you hold the power button it boots to EVO X. What surprises me is that the chip cannot be turned off from the eject button. Did this chip need a certain BIOS for this to happen? Although this doesn't really matter for today being XBOX Live is not with us, but just curious as to why the chip would be installed this way... Also, since this system is SUUUUPER dirty (has a few webs, and rust on the metal shielding) would a can of air blow most the gunk out of the system safely with the chip installed?
their was an app that allowed you to edit the xbox logo, you could make it different colours and generally screw about with it, cant remember what its called, found one called "Flubber Tool" that seems to do the same thing but wasnt the app i was thinking of once you have edited the bios colors etc. to what you want you can re-flash that image either to the onboard tsop or to the chip depending on your setup
...and that was the same app which'd let you make the chip's BIOS' DVD-region zone-free if you'd wanted to use the original dongle.
Oh now I understand! Had a feeling it was a different BIOS. Although the chip works I've been able to load backups, but is it meaning to flash a red light?
It could be that the bios is set to that. I remember playing around and recall that you could change the led's color to orange or red, even have it cycle (disco-style), so it could well be that the previous owner had set the bios to have a red flashing led. (if the Xbox behaves normally, I wouldn't worry too much.) If you'd like to, I could check what app that was, pretty sure I still have it around somewhere.
thats an option you can set in XBMC etc. to change the LED color, very simple to do, can be a bit confusing tho as it can make a box look broken when its not
I mean on the modchip it's self (just making sure we're on the same page here). The XBOX does run perfectly, however no idea where this person had it stored. The whole metal shielding is rusted, full of webs and dust. Surprised it doesn't smell like pot.
Anyone able to help me with changing the boot sequence colour? I read somewhere that there is a tool called Config Live, that works on the XBOX it's self. Is there a way to boot to it?
...but you can't make it blink. OK, I got it. That's normal for the DuoX2. Check this:http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/xbox-duox-2-gs-p-122.html Are you referring to ConfigMagic? EDIT: I still have a shitload of DuoX2 printboards around for the 1.6 models which I have no use for. PM me if needed.
No not ConfigMagic. It's meaning to boot before the flubber sequence. I checked which BIOS the chip is running, from memory it's M8+, is that the latest?
