Hello, recently I got 2 Game Gears and some games. One of the games that I got was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit). I have 2 of these and I never even bought them once. Both consoles came with a copy. My collection is very small compared to the majority of people on this forum and I was wondering how many of one game someone actually owns. Wether through intentionally buying multiple copies and versions, or some game that you just keep getting and almost wish you had less of. (Ports on different consoles count) (games that share names don't count). My duplicates: Sonic the Hedgehog 2(8-bit) - 2 (they seem to have different load times) Sonic Adventure 2 - 2 (1 DC + 1 NGC) Super Mario 64 - 2 (1 RevB + 1 RevC) Rugrats in Paris - 2 (1 PS1 + 1 N64) I probably have more that I can't think of now. You don't have to list them all like I did, just your largest ones.
7 copies of Alexi Lalas International Soccer, 5 copies of Gyromite. those are really the only ones worth mentioning
I have 2 each of the following games: Shenmue II (DC PAL) Virtua Fighter 2 (Saturn) Virtua Fighter 4 (PS2) Star Wars Arcade (32X) Final Fantasy VII (PS1, I don't even like this game) Donkey Kong Country (SNES) I have 3 copies of Wave Race 64 (N64). I also have several multiplatform games with duplicates on different systems, such as: Dead or Alive 2 (DC + PS2) Virtua Fighter (Saturn + 32X) Virtua Fighter 5 (360 + PS3) Earthworm Jim 2 (Genesis + SNES) Toy Story (Genesis + SNES) I might be forgetting some, but those are the ones I'm aware of. I'm not including games I have on handheld platforms and PC. I also have a few duplicate systems, but that's a different story.
Depends on what counts as 'duplicate'. If the same game but with different serial numbers (e.g. budget versions, limited editions and normal editions, revised versions, bundled versions,...) doesn't count as duplicates then I have none. All my items are unique, but I do have a ton of games in several versions, such as both 1st/2nd release, both 1st/2nd revision, both regular and limited edition with the game being mostly identical. Now you could argue if a Famicom Golf-game really counts as different just because the box has a FF-logo in the top right corner and to some it certainly doesn't. Then again this is part of collecting as a whole, isn't it? Chasing the obscure and rare rather than just the common and easily accessible. Things like these can make the difference between a $5 and a $500 game. See Spartan X vs. Kung-Fu for the Famicom: It's the exact same game except for the title screen and the packaging, but the "Kung Fu"-version costs 1000% more than the one called Spartan X.
Sonic 2 (MD), 3x: 1x PAL, 1x missing manual PAL, 1x loose PAL - previously 4x, but I gave another loose one to a new MD owner a while ago F-Zero X (N64), 3x: 1x PAL, 1x loose PAL, 1x loose NTSC-J Sonic Adventure 2, 3x: 1x DC NTSC-J Birthday Pack, 1x DC PAL, 1x GCN PAL Pokemon Silver, 3x: 1x EU German, 2x loose Japanese (one w/ dead battery) ...and a few more where I have two copies, sometimes from different regions - Zelda OoT (NTSC-J v1.2 and PAL v1.0), Metal Gear Solid (NTSC-U and PAL), etc.
Keio 2 Flying Squadron (SAT), 3 PAL copies... paid quite a bit for one, then a year later found two really cheap in a 3-4 month period and grabbed them. Been sat there ever since.
I have: 2 copies of FFXIII for PS3 2 copies of Zelda Skyward Sword for Wii 2 copies of windwaker for Gamecube 2 copies of Mario Party on N64 2 copies of FF8 for Playstation (plus a copy of the PC version) 2 copies of Metal gear Solid for playstation 2 copies of Sonic 2 for Master System If you wanted multiformat I have MK3 on Snes, Mega Drive and PSX MK2 on Snes and 32X FF 7 on PC and Playstation FF8 on PSX and PC NBA Jam on 32x and Mega Drive MK Trilogy and MK 4 on PSX and N64 Soul Calibur 2 (PS2, GCN and XBOX) There's probably more but these are the ones I remember off the top of my head.
I used to have about a dozen copies of Shenmue for Xbox. I used to work at MS and one day (in 06) they were dumping a ton of xbox related stuff (this was a little while after the 360 launch). I didn't get there in time to get any of the interesting stuff, so I took a box of Shenmue. I've since sold them off throughout the years though.
Thanks for all the responses. I am actually a bit surprised how many people here have duplicates of the GG/MS Sonic 2. I figured a lot of people here would have several duplicates. They just show up in bundles or you love the game so much you need more than 1. Yeah, I actually have 2 exactly identical model GBA SP gray front-light consoles. One from childhood and one is a junk console that I got for free. Works, but front-light is broken. I am basically classifying it as any game you have more than 1 of that is the same game. EX: SMB and SMB/DH are both SMB games. SM All Stars is a different game and was remade from scratch and does not count. Also VC doesn't count in my opinion. EX2: Sonic, Sonic NFR, Sonic (GH), Sonic 3 in 1, Sonic Jam, Sonic Classics Collection are all the same game. Sonic (GBA) is not the same as it is remade (poorly I may add). It really all depends on your opinion though. For instance, I would say the PS3 version of Sonic Generations does not count as a copy of Sonic 1 even though it contains it.
From what i recall right now: Gran Turismo (PS1) - NTSC|U/C and NTSC|J versions Gran Turismo 2 (PS1) - NTSC|U/C and NTSC|J versions Porsche Challenge (PS1) - NTSC|U/C and PAL versions Ridge Racer (PS1) - NTSC|U/C (longbox) and NTSC|J versions Uncharted 3 (PS3) - US and Euro versions Not counting Shadow of the Colossus and God of War, even though i have the HD remakes.
I have multiple regional variants of Clock Tower games, but then others that could be considered duplicates - the European ones which have multiple version per localized languages in the manuals and sleeves. Same for Drakengard, Syphon Filter... Honestly put - I have about three boxes of JUST duplicates (not even counting the regional variants in my collections!). I probably have close to 10 copies of NTSC-J Clock Tower 2, Ghost Head or so just going off the top of my head. Typically has happened when I've bought something and the seller has thrown in an extra game as a freebie.
I have copies of Ikaruga coming out of my ass. No really I have so many copies of Ikaruga in various Forms both Legit and Not Legit I've lost count.
oh and if we're counting consoles then, 3 n64s, 3 ps1s, 2 ps3s, 2 nes, and 2 gcs. I know that really doesn't compare to a lot of people on this site though
Consoles... 3 Saturns (NTSC-J Model 1, PAL Model 1, PAL Model 2) 2 Dreamcasts (NTSC-U, PAL) 2 N64s (NTSC-U, PAL) 5 PlayStations (various models & conditions) two or three PS2s (also various models & conditions) 3 Mega Drives (all PAL, 1x Model 1, 2x Model 2) 2 GameCubes (NTSC-U, PAL) 3 SNES / SFC (1x SFC, 2x PAL SNES) one of each Game Boy model (excluding GB Light and AGS-101, and ignoring color variants) ...like so, I think.
3 Dreamcasts 1 non working modded, 1 for CD-Rs and 1 for GD Roms. 2 Gamcubes 2 N64 one working one eviscerated as an ornament next to my bed
Other than the GBA I mentioned: I have 2 Game Gear's (both VA1) 2 PSP's (one 2000, one 3000) used to have a 3rd (3000) Everything else I have, I only have one of. Some of you have ridiculous amounts and duplicates of consoles I have still yet to add to my collection (AKA: Saturn/SNES/MD/SEGA CD). Maybe in 10 years I will have 2 or three of each.
My console duplicates: Dreamcast x 2 (both NTSC-U) Saturn x 2 (NTSC-U and NTSC-J) Genesis x 2 (both NTSC-U, model 1 and model 2) Nintendo 64 x 2 (both NTSC-U, one RGB modded) PS1 x 3 (SCPH-1001 NTSC-U, SCPH-9001 NTSC-U, and SCPH-9000 NTSC-J) PS2 x 2 (NTSC-U and NTSC-J) You might also consider my Wondermega to be a duplicate of the Genesis, though it's quite a different system. I also have an SNES Jr. and a Super Famicom, and they're also completely different systems.
