I use Nero Vision Express but I find it pretty shit. For a start it's not possible to use your own buttons. I wanted buttons written in the Mega Drive font that said PLAY MOVIE , CHAPTER SELECT and CREDITS. The idea was that by pressing the button would take you to that page but vision express isn't like that. :( You can olny have 1 page unless you have a load of chapters in which case you can get another page to move to but you can't or not from what I can make out , skip to say, from the main splash screen to a credits screen then to a chapter screen :( If it actually is possible to do this then someone please help. Here are the BG images plus buttons I want to use for my DVD.

  2. I always use this which I'm sure would do what you have in mind:

    TMPGEnc DVD Author v1.5.15.49

Thanks oldengineer. I have TMPGEnc so I guess the DVD Author is just a plug in? I'll have look on the net for it then give it a try. Does it let you use video and audio in the menu backgrounds?

  4. Mmmm possibly it lets you use like samples of video, you know like a chapter selection, you could have that running as a video icon, you can probably do a whole lot more including what you mention though.

...I've probably only used about 10% of it's features, it's very simple but does a lot of useful work, makes 'homemade' stuff look really professional for what it is.

just set the avi starts automatically with 1 sec delay and keep looping...
    that's what I do.

of course if you are making compilation you will need something decent to make the menu coz VE is kind of sh!t in that regard... :p
