http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/742/742891p1.html It's sad to hear that nintendo still thinks many of us wouldn't go for the enhanced unit - At a higher price than 250 USD perhaps an X360 would be a more suitable solution for most users if faced with a choice. I would expect a Q-like unit, but just imagining a standard Wii with DVD playback is also a good excuse to force a unit in my parents' living room. Nevertheless, dodgy move
Why is it dodgy? The thought that most people who want a DVD player already have one is fairly legitimate. There is no need to add extra cost to a *GAMING* device just to make it be able to play an (arguably) outdated movie format.
oh come on, at least an add-on people go crazy for gadgets , why else would one buy an HD-DVD player when they don't own an HDTV? (there are people who will ) , or why will many people buy many things? Just because its a feature. Besides, I haven't seen a sexy dvd-player like the Wii before. If it were to play movies, no other player would adorn the shelf under the tele
It`s only £20/$35 for a standalone unit anyway And yeh people buying HD stuff when don`t have a HD TV or won`t pay for the few HD channels we have in the uk Also how many people with a Pani-Q PLAY dvd`s on it?
I'll wait and get the DVD version that's for sure. It is always handy to have an extra DVD player connected to another TV just in case the missus has taken over the main TV by watching some crap as always. Yakumo
Another score point for Yakumo - Again, who can argue that the Q wasnt one of the most beautiful consumer electronic devices ever? Having that "extra-special" thing (even when you don't use it) always makes you feel better besides the functionality. For example, why do so many of us collect dev.hardware even though it's so expensive and it won't even play games most of the time? Because we re special kids and we like special treats.
I just don't need another DVD player. I've already got (goes off to count)... at least a dozen that I can find.
