http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/13/woman-dies-of-water-intoxication-after-radio-contest/ Apparently there was a Radio contest where you won if you went the longest without peeing, you get a Wii. Hold your wee for a Wii! The Winner of said contest died of Water intoxication from not going to the Bathroom.
bad luck??? Men forget the stupid Wii, the girl's dead, most stupid and irresponsible contest ever!!! The Wii is not even that great... Sabre
Anyone who'd even try such a stupid thing must by nuts. Everyone knows holding it in isn't good for the body. The contest holders should be held responsible for the girls death. Yakumo
hmmm this reminds me of the Danish shit radio by the name The Voice (or just Voice) they held a contest, where they said the person should order a layer cake from a baker. And then throw it in the face of the victim. Then they would win 5000 kroner (a little less than 500 quid), and then one did it. And said to the victim in the bakery "I win", then Voice got in court, and had to pay compensation for the trauma the girl got. So it IS the radio stations fault. And it can be won in court, even in USA.
I remember reading about a radio station that got sued when one of the presenters explained about the LSD like high one could experience if they threw an electrical device into the bath while they were in it (as a joke, don't try it!) Several people did, unfortunately, and died as a result. Stupidity costs lives.
It wasn't "holding it in" that killed her. It was the sudden intake of a large amount of water which caused water intoxication. Effectively, her body no longer had enough sodium in it to allow her nervous system to function properly.
One crazy contest I remember they had for some radio show up north here in the U.S. was where they would give a couple like $10,000 USD if they would have sex in a church, well they did and the vadican was not happy. I think the show got sued for it too. Radio shows for some reason have the most ridiculess contests. Howard stern though I think tops most of them as far as constests go. Still, wtf? I never thought winning something would go this far.
