    For Sale: e-Machines N-10 laptop <will trade for EeePC>

I have an eMachines laptop that's been giving me problems (likely caused by me). I was pretty sure it just needed a new hard drive, but this afternoon I tried to turn it on and the monitor didn't display anything. It's probably something fixable, but I just don't feel like messing with it anymore.

I would be taking the hard drive out, though. I checked on Newegg and you can get an 80GB hard drive for around $55.

I'm starting school and I don't have the time, patience, or money to fix it. If anyone wants a [probably working] eMachines laptop, I'll sell it for $250+shipping. I'd like to try one of the Asus Eee PCs out, so if anyone wants to trade I'll consider that as well.

You would be doing me a huge favor as well. I'm a college student so I'm trying to conserve money while being practical at the same time. Time is of the essence, etc

5.) Items $99.00 in value or over must be accompanied by a picture
of the item with your forum name and the site's name visible in the
picture. (On a piece of paper, index card, etc)

This is where I stopped reading.

No, caused by the truly dire quality of all their builds. Horrible, horrible machines.

Many a conversation in our (PC repair) shop has started:

    CUSTOMER: I have an e-machine....
STAFF MEMBER: Oh, I am sorry

    'Nuff said!! ;-)

The pictured laptop sleeve is included. Everything is included *except* a hard drive.

I am generally the same way. I used to dread seeing the bastards come into my office when I repaired them, but I also dealt with much older eMachines computers. Around the time Gateway bought them out (I believe early 2000's), their quality seemed to improve as far as internals go. They are most certainly a budget computer and are not the creme de le' creme of computers by any means.

I've owned this laptop for 1.5 years, and it's been with me through thick and thin. If I thought it was a piece of shit then I'd probably just toss it as opposed to selling it. It worked fine before I started fiddling with the partition tables, and I can only guess that the monitor issue might be related. I'm 99% sure this thing is fixable, I just don't know what it needs and I don't have the time to repair it.

Besides, I'm trying to downsize anyway. I have a somewhat beastly desktop computer, and I don't need a fully-fledged laptop anymore.

Edit: Somehow I forgot the specifications.

    Mobile Sempron 3200+
    960MB RAM
(1024 Physical, but 64 goes to the graphics card; laptop originally came with 512)
Geforce 6100 Integrated Graphics (64MB shared memory - this can be changed by the user)
The hard drive that came with the laptop was a 60GB, 5400RPM drive that I no longer have. Better stuff can be purchased significantly cheaper these days.

Hopeful bump. This thing might wind up on eBay.

I'm pretty sure I'm hearing two beeps from the whole POST deal, which I'm guessing (after a quick Google search) means either the monitor is dead (not likely) or the connector/ribbon/whatever is loose or damaged (very likely). I couldn't get the case off after removing all visible screws, though, so maybe someone more laptop-knowledgeable could disassemble it.

Either way, I figured I'd give a quick update. This is my last bump before I set up an eBay auction.
