One of these popped up on eBay Australia, after very little views and no bids I managed to get it for a cheap price. He claims he attended the event and obtained it, but didn't keep the packaging. I've since found out there's a seller on Amazon selling replicas. What I want to know is, how to tell the difference between them. I don't have an MS plate here for comparison, or a 360 to attach it to, I have a feeling I may have gotten a dud.
Here we gooooo. Links: http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/5310/dscf29301296x972.jpg http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8433/dscf29291296x972.jpg http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/49/dscf29251296x972.jpg http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/715/dscf29241296x972.jpg Don't wanna stretch the board.
Well, if it's a fake, it's one hell of a decent print job. The photo of the front appears to match up. I can't account for color tone, since that can vary based on the camera and lighting conditions, but the pattern used looks to be spot-on. There are minor printing variances in terms of location, but they are all within tolerances. In short, it's the same sort of variance that you would see when comparing two or more known authentic pieces. The one part that does draw a little concern is on the grey sync button. This may simply be an optical illusion based on the angle of your photo, but it appears as if the printed lines run onto the grey ring on the edge of the sync button. The lines should be printed on the white plastic edge as it dips down, but there should not be any green ink on the grey plastic if this is an authentic piece. I cannot verify the backside for you, as all of my pieces are boxed/new and therefore obscured with frosted plastic, but your front side doesn't have any obvious indicators that would scream FAKE! Hopefully others can also chime in and add their opinions. -hl718
Thanks for the reply. There's no print on the sync button at all, the green rings are only on the main part of the faceplate. The only things that really concerned be is the quality of the plastic joins used on the back, Like I said I don't have another faceplate here with me but if memory serves me correctly they're not of MS standard - unless the early produced faceplates were less than that of the ones that made retail - I could be completely wrong though.
I would assume this but not sure http://www.amazon.com/XBOX-360-FACE..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1265013228&sr=8-1
^ Yep those are the ones Some comments say they come without USB doors and they don't fit the console. :\
Those have the same grey sync button as JackAz's Shame they aren't a bit cheaper, even though they aren't real, would still look passable on the shelf with the other faceplates I have.
^ I'm not sure if those photos on Amazon are of the actual plates, as when there was an authentic one available it was listed under the same item - so the photos are most likely of a legit faceplate and not of the fake, which is where my confusion began.
