EA shuts down Visceral Games, developers of Dead Space

Another great team has its doors closed. Founded as EA Redwood Shores in 1998, Visceral is most known for Battlefield: Hardline and the stellar Dead Space series.

They were in the middle of developing an untitled Star Wars game before their termination, the game will still continue to be developed by a team from EA's studios worldwide, but no concrete info yet. Game has been delayed to somewhere in 2019 while the development and assets change hands.

Do you have fond memories of playing/being scared shitless by Dead Space?
Let's pay our respects for a good team. I wish everyone from the studio well, and hope they continue to make great things in the gaming industry.

How do we stop EA

 

ive only played DEAD SPACE 2 and 3, i personaly enjoyed them, sad to hear about their closing

 

After Dead Space 3 and Battlefield Hardline, it was kind of a given. I feel sorry for the people that worked there, hope they find a new job asap.

Dead Space was one of the coolest new ips of last gen and yet, EA had no shame of destroying it.

Jim Sterling was on point in this one.

 

They should have shut down Bioware instead.

 

TC isn't going to like my opinion, but I hated the Deadspace games, anyway. The only thing that scared me in the latest game of the series was how hard it was trying to sell me microtransactions to buy in-game items with real-life money (The same currency I use to purchase games, like Dead Space 3)

 

At this point, Criterion Games & Bioware are on the Black List IMHO.

 

I definitely think that's it. DS3 was easily the worst one of the bunch and Hardline had a tepid release. I'm curious to see if they had another project in the works between BF:HL and now. Also how far along that was.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. Guess I should have read the original post. Star Wars game haha.

This, 100%... The original Dead Space is on my short list of all time faves. Unfortunately the series unraveled in a hurry. Such wasted potential for sure.

 

ea is a peace of ... bioware is one of the greatest developers out there. the closing of bioware is a loose of kotor 3 forever.

 

Since they just bought Respawn Entertainment, does anyone wanna bet how long it will last?

 

Everyting EA touches is poisoned forever and will die sooner or later.

 

Sad but true.

 

Only reason they bought Respawn was to piss off Craptivision IMO. Those two hate each other.

 

That's why I root for independent developers. Such a shame that Bioware sold themselves.

 

Seems EA always bought a studio and shutdown it.
