Anyone know how far the LATEST beta of the game was? The one I played only had like one playable battle with flint. The game was an amazing peice of work that I would have loved to be completed. As stated earlier as well, who's for trout flavored yogurt?

I have some pics of one beta in a "Club Nintendo" magazine (my country's equivalent of Nintendo Power)

Which magazine and WHERE is it after many years...?

    THAT's the question.

Looked quite advanced for the time, though.

  3. You got to play it Purge? Where/how?

And as far as the rumors go, it was supposedly somewhere around 60% completed and slated for the 64DD (it bounced back and forth between 64DD and carts a few times) when it was axed. However, Shigesato Itoi is reusing the plot for the true Mother 3, which was apparently going to come out on GBA. I'm not sure what the deal with that is, as it's been a while since there have been any whisperings on the subject, although I'd toss my hat into the ring and say if it's going to be released at all, it will most likely be on the DS.

What's Earthbound like? I decided I would pick up a bunch of SNES classics (Chrono Trigger, FF3 etc. for starters).

Its a break from the typical RPG. Set in present day has fantasy and sci fi elements with quirky sense of humor and moral values. The game can also be played entirely with your left hand. An instant classic and non stop plot twist kind of game with lots of little side stories.

I have an EGM article on Mother 3, but unfortunately my scanner is gone. I'll see if I can get it back for a few days.

If you tell me what issue it's from, I can see if I have the issue. If I do, I can take a pic or scan it.

I can't tell for sure without looking at it (I'm at work), but I think it's the November 1999 issue (Pikachu is on the front cover, and there is an article on Pokemon).

  13. einbebop: If you have the chance, pick it up, it's a refreshing departure from the standard medieval-themed RPGs and has a good bit of VERY odd humor to it, too.

He is not reusing the Nintendo 64 plot, he stated this at the time it was announced for the GBA.

Now maybe now the DS is coming, they may ressurect the N64 version of the game to boost sales against the PSP.The game was only around 50% complete though so that leaves them with alot of work to be done.

Perhaps the GBA new Mother will come along next year as well but it seems as though Shigesato Itoi has lost intrest in developing games and the work may have to be completed by Miyamoto san.

Oh and another thing the game was destined for CARTRIDGE at the end and that's where the development hell started for the team. The 64DD version was cancelled around 1998 and work continued on the cart version until late 2000, the cart version being shown at Spacworld 99.The game never really progressed past that 50% vesion shown at spaceworld. They just had too many problems. If you can read jap, Sigesato Itoi has the full story on his website along with some great pictures of the game.

Both producers are worthy of the title sama in my opinion.

  17. Meh, Miyamoto's losing his edge. If Itoi's out, it's not Mother anymore...

its' true, miyamoto have loosed some of is incredible talent, i hope we will see it again soon (super mario sunshine isn't that good)

  19. I think the new rising star of Nintendo was the guy behind Animal Crossing - apparently an apprentice of Miyamoto's or something. I thought I read somewhere he had a hand in Giftpia as well?

Utter and complete bullshit, besides Miyamoto had only a slight hand in Super mario Sunshine.

He is trying to pass on his talents at Nintendo and is taing a less hands on approach with games nowadays and putting his efforts in to teaching the new generation.

He has also moved up in nintendo and has far more responsibilities, he also had some slight health problems and has to take it a bit easier these days.
