Wow...they actually didn't do it in crappy-looking 3D like all the other remakes! And co-op: wasn't expecting that, now I'm interested.
I hope the bastards remake the first two MDK games and give me a third one. Shinny, I miss you. Messiah wasn't bad either. Way better than most of today's games. I will agree on the voice samples bit. The new ones don't hold a candle to the classics.
Bah! I just bought Earthworm Jim on the DSi last week. Bastards. OH: Ah well, this does look fantastic, and as such I will assuredly be purchasing it. Wonder if we'll also get an Earthworm Jim 2 remake.
Those new levels don't look like they have anything near the feel and spirit of the original levels. Same for bosses. And Jim's voice, it's just someone imitating the original. Not that great. Otherwise it looks pretty cool
NICE!:-0 And gameloft? those guys are really a long way from those dingy J2ME games they used to make. Indeed, segammy should fuck off with 4 and just get these guys to remake the first sonic games.
FUCKING.EPIC. Sorry, ive waited so long for a new 2d EWJ, and this actually looks amazing. Im gonna go change my undies now
Picked it up, but yet to give it a spin. Hopefully it'll be nice (to be honest, though, besides the humor/graphics... I used to hate the Earthworm Jim games.) those "dingy" java games they used to make were mostly limited by platform and not the talent of Gameloft staff, though. I absolutely loved one of their old Splinter Cell Prince of Persia-clone (really wish that thing would've gotten a console or handheld port of some sort.)
So, after playing this for a little bit, i love it! brings back so many memories of the original. One thing that is buggin the hell out of me, Jims voice is NOT the same. Its just not the same without it, GROOVY! and PLASMA! just dont sound right at all, not a huge deal breaker or anything, but enough to annoy me every time jim speaks
I'm thinking the original voice rights couldn't be relicensed for whatever reason (possibly expense?) or the only voice files available were "average" 16-bit era samples.
