Does anybody own any famiclones from eastern europe ? More specifically a clone from Poland (Lithuania too ?) called a Pegasus. I vaguely remember reading some marketing shill on its box and some old magazine ads for it; supposedly it was licensed from Nintendo, though it accepted the rounded Famicom carts. I also remember seeing a clone shaped like a Batman car
I don't know anything about the particular clone and I doubt Nintendo would license a clone. And I'll take this oppurtunity to let everyone know I absolutely hate and want to destroy these people that make these FamiClones. Not because they are pirate device. Because they fucking suck ass. They are not the same as the NES, they are not fully compatible. They aren't really clones. They are hacky pieces of crap. So theres the first thing, they suck ass. Second, they make it a royal pain in the ass to find a REAL system (Famicom system). Places are filled with fucking "Neo Fami". Someone should beat the hell out of whoever made the NES on a Chip.
http://famiclone.emucamp.com/pegasusmark3/pegasusmark3.htm Another from .nz.. probably still not what you wanted I do remember another Pegasus though, I think I have one but haven't taken pictures. BTW, MottZilla, not all clones are hacky pieces of shit that sucks ass with nes on a chip. I can't see where you're coming from when you say having a lot of clones available makes it hard to get a famicom... surely a lot of people who would have bought a real famicom have ended up buying a clone instead thus leaving more original machines for everyone else?
Actually, looking a little deeper, Pegasus might well be to Poland what Dendy was to most of Russia... the only evidence though is this site I found: http://toya.net.pl/~flcl/index.htm
I agree with Motzilla. With old famiclones, some were good, some weird, unique, some were bad, some completely awful with flickery graphics and horrible sound. Nowadays they're all NOACs, which means boring, mediocre quality. With bad PCM sound. I have enough Famicom systems, but really, if you want to get a real Famicom, and search auction sites, you'll find them cluttered with shitty clones.
Even today clones vary in quality. Some games that work perfectly on one might not work at all on a different clone. Though I agree, the older clones are usually a lot more unique and have better compatiability. Btw, does anyone happen to have a Top Guy handheld famiclone? I've been looking for info on this but there's not much. There were some internal pictures on the net but they're gone now.
Martin nesworld would probably be a good person to ask, i suppose you've seen the little page he did http://www.nesworld.com/topguy.htm not quite as in-depth as most of his write-ups, but since he didn't have one in his hand good enough.
Yesterday I found a few clones on a friend's house. Most of them were almost destroyed, w/o controllers or adaptors, but I found one that was pretty weird. It was a standard-look clone in box, with arabic letters on the box and all over the console. I remember seeing one of them in the Hawanja's collection a little ago...
Tell us how you really feel next time! j/k I always preferred the Genesis clones to the NES clones. But, they also varied in quality.
