Apparently the supply of PS3s has been whacked by 40% at EB & Gamestop across the country. If you have one pre-ordered you had better call in to make sure you're still getting a console. I, for one, was told I will not be receiving one. I can't begin to explain how pissed off I am. How can anyone overestimate their supply that much? I certainly wouldn't have foregone getting a pre-order at one of the many other stores if I had know my pre-order wasn't worth a damn. This is really infuriating... 4 days away and they dump this garbage on me.

Here are some articles to back this up:

    http://kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/gamestop-ps3-launch-quantities-cut-in-half-214451.php

Additionally, the Gamestop website says that customers will be notified about the status of their pre-order by Wednesday. For me, this is a last straw with Gamestop. I've have consistently bad experiences with them in the past and I'm done giving them my money.

Gamestop I only trust with game pre orders. But when it comes to consoles, I learn never to trust them.

    Heh heh.

I feel sorry for anyone that "bought" a pre-order ticket for $1000 from someone and now won't be getting the system. :)

eBay sellers are gonna get a lot of bad feedback.

    oops!

Oh how I long to be a fly on the wall of the people who made 200-400% profit on reselling their pre-orders, spent the money on other things, and now must explain to the people they sold it to why they won't be getting the console.

Its not the sellers fault, but I think there's going to be TONS of lawsuits soon.

On a related note, I hope Gamestop was telling the truth when they said they were selling the GCN version of TP in the store.

Oh it's certainly the seller's fault.

Gamestop didn't *guarantee* the pre-orders to its customers.

Sellers on eBay however were selling guaranteed pre-orders.

It's pretty freaking dumb to offer something like that. ;)

I have no pity for the scalpers that are going to have to deal with the fallout (and the chargebacks).

With this lineup, i honestly dont understand why anyone would be so desperate to get the console *NOW NOW NOW NOW*. Apart from ebay that is ofcourse. Surprising that demand hasnt been met there yet, since i get the idea that over half of the consoles are bought with ebay in mind.

Thats an oxymoron if I ever saw one. I think its implied that its guaranteed, anyway.

On that same note, you should be chastising ASSEMbler for his plan, because he is essentially doing the same thing.

If I'm not mistaken, Gamestop was giving out a nifty little note that said pre-orders were not guaranteed. Smart CYA move. Besides, what recent console launch has gone off with all pre-orders fulfilled? Aside from the PSP, none.

As for Assembler, his plan involves selling the PS3 once he has it in-hand. Don't think he has to worry about a pissed off buyer because he couldn't deliver what was promised. Completely different.

I can't help but to laugh at this. Anyone that expected different only had to look at Gamestop's previous launches to know what would happen.
