You recently listed the following Fixed Price listing. This is a sample of the removed listings. To see the full list, please go to My eBay, click the Activity tab, and then click the Unsold link under the Sell heading.

Unfortunately, we had to remove these listings because they were duplicates of other Fixed Price listings that are currently active on your eBay account. Please use the following information to ensure you are following this policy:

Sellers aren't allowed to list multiple, identical fixed-price items on eBay at the same time.

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you ebay

It wasn't the same it had different firmware.
Ebay sure gets shittier by the day.

I support that rule. It's bloody irritating when you're searching for something and find that 90% of each page of links are the same item (usually in Hong Kong).

Just make sure your auction titles are different and you should be fine, surely?

I support it, too. VERY annoying.

You're supposed to do a Dutch auction (e.g. 10 available) if you want to list multiples. That's been the rule for many years. If it's fixed-price, what's the problem with that?

I have no problem with the rule, but I have a problem with eBay not learning how to read between the lines. If your listing something with a different firmware version, eBay should clue in that somehow a different version intrinsically has some differentiating value which might result in someone paying more, less, or not even at all for it.

If I listed a 2010 Honda and then listed at 1998 Honda, your not going to take me down for listing the same item twice right? Just because the model version is a different year? Of course not. If your going to act sane for this case, why would you double standard and take down two items of different versions? Just because they look the same on the outside doesn't make them the same on the inside.

All well and good but we all know eBay. Firmware is probably a flagged word.

They are getting stupid. My brother listed a motorbike the other day which is a replica of another type of bike. Because he wrote it was like a suzuki eBay shut down the auction and wouldn't let him sell anything until he completed a tutorial and test on brand names and use of search terms.

    eBay are total fucking hypocrites.

Also, the tech and account support personnel who work for eBay UK are clearly from another country and when using live chat they have great difficulty spelling and understanding some simple english terms. I don't want to get into a debate about race or nationality but these are the people who are reading and checking eBay auctions produced by folks fluent in english.

They probably just have a list on a computer which automagically pools a list of potential violations and all they do is press accept or decline.

It's a real money maker for eBay because 9/10 times they profit from the re-listing fees.

I'm still baffled as to why eBid hasn't taken off yet, there millions ways to no bullshit and nice tech support and yet the amount of items listed on there isn't a fraction of what you'll find on eBay.

I can understand the restriction on listing lots of identical items, they just pollute search results.
A few similar items wouldn't cause any harm. Unfortunately, discretion is a concept that escapes ebay staff.

I keep checking back hoping to see if it's improved, but it's mostly full of manuals and shit you could download for free.
And don't start me on batteries - ebay is just as bad for this. Anything on ebid worth buying is usually overpriced.

Now also final value fees on shipping cost

Now also final value fees on shipping cost.

    Amazing logic.

I absolutely hate shipping overchargers, but I guess this only leads to 10% higher shipping cost for sellers to cover their extra FVF, and I'll bet even people who already overcharge shipping will do that. I know I will have to, I've always charged exact cost.

eBay shipping cost charges are a joke. I sold a shitload of collectible DVD's last year and was only allowed to charge a maximum of £1 for P&P charges, yet each disc I sent out cost me a minimum £2 as I had to pay for signed delivery because you can't take a chance on the buyer not trying to come the cunt and say his item hasn't arrived so he can scam his money back off you and get a free movie :-(

What really gets me though is I had a listing last year removed because it breached eBays policy regarding ''Violent materials''. They pulled my listing, still charged me for insertion and when I complained and pointed out a business seller listing the exact same box set I was told in no uncertain terms that if I tried to relist said item my account would be suspended for further breach.

I find myself muttering those same words at least twice a month, I'm 99.99% sure after one infraction they watch you harder I have a hard time listing anything controversial while others have the same items listed without having them removed and being punished.

Ebay's customer support just says to report them :( Why report them when I want to sell the same item as them?

    Ya, everything you said.

You're against sellers paying less fees to ebay by increasing their shipping charge? It's up to the buyer to add cost of item + shipping and see if it's worth the item no?

I try to lure sellers and buyers away from ebay and handle the transaction purely through paypal. If someone has decent feedback I am ALWAYS comfortable doing this to save us both fees, reasonable people will also adjust their prices accordingly if you're willing to deal outside ebay.

And how the hell is that "amazing logic" if you charge the EXACT amount it will cost to ship and then get taxed on that amount it seizes to remain enough to cover the cost to ship..

Guess I don't get your logic?

100% I can't count the times the shipping calculator has fucked me and shipping cost's ate what the buyer paid and then a chunk of the item's cost as well.

    1. Yes, I am against that, and in that respect I appreciate that eBay is adding FVF to shipping cost. Of course it is up to the buyer to decide whether the total price is worth it or not assuming the shipping cost is given, but many cases of shipping overcharge I've experienced are absolutely retarded, especially when it comes to combined shipping (I learned my lesson, now I always ask in advance.)

My problem with shipping overchargers is that it's misleading in the way that sellers make it appear that this cost is an additional, actual cost outside the control of the seller which you'll have to suck up and pay if you want the item, while it isn't. I try to avoid buying from those sellers.

Maybe you consider it nitpicking, but I pay several hundred dollars every year just in shipping overcharge. Yeah, some things I just have to have, and nobody are forcing me to place the bids, but I wish sellers would be honest about the cost.

    2. No logic, you connected the unconnectable! Exact in the past, now I'll just adjust my rates a little bit if necessary. In most cases it won't add up to much anyway.

    3. Not my logic, theirs. I just thought it was "funny" that they say they'll charge you more, but if you charge little for shipping, they won't charge you too much extra!

They present it as it will be better for both buyers and sellers, while in the end it's probably just going to cost both buyers and sellers more. Sellers who just try to circumvent FVF by including the cost of the item in the shipping cost will just move that cost back to the item price (a good thing!) or not care at all, and sellers who overcharge to mislead will just help eBay to profit on their dishonest practice.
