You really think that a company as big as eBay is going to look at the options: A. Tell our users that in the interest of security we are going to change the password criteria and get them to change our passwords, which will piss off a few users or B. Let's pretend we had a MASSIVE security lapse, that undermines peoples confidence in not only our auction site, but Paypal as well. Use you bonce mate, it's pretty obvious what's happened.
ebay is lame. considering i rarely it i just went to go change my password anyways and.. i cant! because the site is having tech difficulties and to try again later. what a joke!!
Yep, just got the same message when I signed in. Sucky thing is I just redid my password after hearing about it unofficially. Now that there was an official message and warning on my ebay dashboard I had to do it again.
I had an email from eBay saying password should be changed (not must). Then when I logged in I had to change it straight away.
lol, don't need to be so harsh. I know you are right and in fact I would change the password for less than that. I was more like, why news sites are warning about this before ebay. If its official, ok, but I prefer waiting the offical announcement. I've tried changing before and after the ebay dot com avertising it. And they changed the password page. Before there was 3 fields and now they email the reset link. Issues perhaps...
I wonder if this is going to be like the Target breach in which they keep lying to the consumer about how much info was stolen.
