    That is an amazing amount, I hope he gets paid.

    I would have never thought it so valuable, and I don't think anyone will EVER get a price so high again. The people buying are probably SONY anyway, there's been a lot of problems so I won't touch current gen dev.

    Thanks guys,

    Yes I did get the money. I am surprised as much as you guys are. I set my reserve at 1400 (in hopes I would get that) and would have been extremely happy with 1800. Much to my surprise, the price rose like bananas in the final 5 seconds. I still don't think it's worth that much, nor would I have paid for it at that price. I guess it was to someone though.

    It certainly helped me out a lot. I was able to buy myself yet another macbook (of which I don't let outside my house). I am pushing forward with my game too. Things are looking better for me.

    No its one of the newer ones that dont support ps2 games because sony is cheap and wants to make more money off its customers.

    It may be comming to retail via a firmware update soon though, 40gb test console can play some ps2 games, as well as 40gb retails with factory/service firmware. So sony are putting $$ into making it work through full emulation but who knows when/if they will finally enable it on retails. :shrug:

    The only real upside is that these use less energy than the launch consoles. That's bout it really though.

    Here are the files from a 40gb Debugging station.


    There are also a couple videos of a 40gb retail console running factory/service mode firmware playing ps2 games.



    So with sony spending $$ on developing this i can't see them not releasing it in retail firmware eventually. :nod:
