Ebay changed to day to 100% xml "my ebay".
Basically it's become a huge data mine for focused ads.

    The real problem is this:

I also went to sell some accessory that was heavy, and ebay
has begun limiting the amount of money you can charge on shipping
    in certain categories.

Instead of fixing a system where people abuse their flawed commission system (selling for $1.00 with $30.00 shipping to avoid fees) they just decided
to limit what I can charge for shipping of an accessory, regardless of weight.

"exceeds maximum shipping fee for this category"

So I am expected to sell an xbox speaker system with $9 max shipping.
It weighs 25 pounds. ($15 shipping if not more)

Ebay, I hate you so much.

I know exactly how you feel about the shipping. I was putting up some older games and they only were allowing me to charge 4.00 when it would at least cost me 5 to ship it. So i had too list in vintage games and i haven't gotten as many views as i would have liked :(.

Just pray they keep doing dumb shit. EVENTUALLY, Darwinian laws state that all the fucktards that don't know how shitty Ebay is will be gone, and the smart people will demand something else. Of course, that could be when humans are gone, but still...

As sad is it is to say it, but this may be time for someone like Google to step up and offer an eBay replacement.

There should be an option on there to have the user calculate shipping, for heavy items. Problem with that though is you have to get the item packaged up and weighed before listing it.

My two year old son thinks that weight of the item should be an option.

I remember ebay in the beggining it worked great easy to use. They revised it about 8 years ago and it became bad. Now it just plain stinks. As for selling I am pretty much done with ebay. WIth this new darwinism maybe creating my own site would not be such a bad idea.

just don´t ask what they were thinking... I´m not as much into console gaming anymore, but pc hardware is still my hobby.
When I sell a used bigtower, shipping is limited to 7 Euros which is standard for a normal, small-ish parcel weighing less than 10 kilograms.

Now, if I sell a server tower, 1.2mm steel chassis, 14 drive slots, dual PSUs... that thing weighs 30kilograms empty, so I can only ship it as bulk freight for over 25 Euros. But as long as I put it into the pc case category, I may only charge 7 bucks for shipping.
It gets worse when you think of server racks. A friend of mine wanted to sell a rack including several empty cases. Ebay delisted the item, telling him to put in inside the pc case category. He told them, that he couldn´t do that since shipping alone would be more than 100 Euros for that thing. But they insisted and threatened to temporarily suspend his account!
He got away by changing the description, avoiding the word "case" altogether.

At first I didn't use ebay because it ruined the "hunt" for great finds such as you would get at garage sales and flea markets. Ebay just made it too easy. Now it's just too hard. Not to mention every so often you get scammed.

ebay's new system is very retarded, to sell heavy item's you need to select the courier option in the drop down box, and then put the cost of p&p in the main listing. I've had to do this myself in the last few days, and i'm hoping it doesn't cause problems come checkout time.

I agree here. For some categories, like games and Dvd's, they've limited the maximum postage charge to something like £3.00, which is useless if you have a box set, limited edition, or something like a Steelbook which are all naturally heavy items - Especially if it's a five disc Steelbook Dvd, as they weigh more than your standard vanilla release Dvd

Yes, I agree this system works in theory, but in practice it's just not practical. A vast majority of sellers are honest and offer reasonable postage prices for games and Dvd's (I consider between £1.50-£3.00 to be average), yet there are a small minority of greedy sellers who think charging £4.00 or more for standard second class shipping which only costs less than £1.50 is reasonable.

And then you have the ones who are blatently circumventing fees and think they're smart who offer a game or Dvd for £1.00 with £15.00 P&P - These are the ones who are ruining it for everyone, and it's not big and it's not clever either

I am getting really really really fed up with ebay.

I need to vent. (but I figured I'd add to this topic instead of spamming the OT).

After sending two games to a seller in spain and providing proof of postage the buyer claimed they had not arrived. He opened a dispute and despite my posting evidence he somehow won the case (I'm guessing credit card company). Even though the value was only £12 I'm not too bothered so I just initiated a refund and cleared myself of the stress.

    He then left negative feedback.

That was a month ago and today he decided to buy all of my buy it now items and send me a threatening email saying he wants his games. I've reported him and I'm hoping it gets sorted but if not he is in a position to leave more negative feedback and reduce my profile scores again (which are already suffering from the last fuck up and stopping me from accessing paypal funds immediately.)

The to top the day off. I sold a brand new sealed Logitech MX mouse to a guy for a very very reasonable price and he has emailed me to complain that it doesn't work on white shiny surfaces and is accusing me of wasting his life, before I could reply he has opened a paypal dispute and is demanding £7 to cover packaging costs and time wasting reimbursement. (It only cost £2.00 to post in the first place.)

They should give an ebay account with £1000 free cash to high school students to show them what real people in real life are like - dicks.

And this is why I DON'T use EBay. There are far too many pricks in this world and they all seem to head for EBay. To be fair EBay can't control the amount of wankers they have but they can stop being blind dumb fucks in situations like this.

That's why I only buy from eBay. And usually only from sellers with over 9000 positive feedback.

Same happened to me today when trying to list something, so I just selected the "Courier - Check item description or contact seller for details." option and put the shipping price within the auction.
