ebay fees are a total rape, nevermind that they scrape you on the paypal fees too

The fees are beginning to take the piss now. I remember a time when eBay was fantastic for bargains. (I got the full Sims set for £7 posted). Nowadays sellers overprice everything to counter the ebay and paypal fees.

Yeah, it hasn't changed at all in the past couple of years. Although for commercial sellers, it actually did change a lot since 2007 or so... much to the worse, of course.

I avoid to sell on ebay, but for some items that I need to get rid off fast, there's almost no alternative. >_> If you're on the lookout for cheap electronics though, ebay is a great place to buy. Just less and less bargains in real auctions are happening.

totally agree, the prices are getting out of control, less and less tempting to sell on ebay but where else would you go? it does kind of have the monopoly

When I sell a laptop for £450 on ebay and lose £50 or so in the process it irks. What can you do, though? They have a complete lock on the online auction space. Fucking joke, though, no question. Like they deserve that kind of cut.

How else can the owners afford to breakfast every day on Phoenix eggs? Have you any idea how expensive they are?

I stopped selling on eBay about 5 years ago when I noticed that I actually paid on top instead of getting money from my sales.
I can't believe eBay still exists.

Is it really 10%? I've sold lots of stuff on eBay and the amount I see in Paypal has never been more than a few bucks less than what the item sold for (that's a confusing sentence to read).

it was 10% for fixed listing price but less for auctions as far as i knew but they are now taking 10% from all sales whether fixed listing or auction so everyone now pays the same, which is shockingly shit

dont forget paypal also dip their dirty fingers in and take another 5%

    robbing gits

God yeah, I sold a DSiXL for 129$ a month back and I had to pay 14$ in fee's, and that was just an auction.

Paypal takes their instantly, ebay invoices you monthly... so you won't see what they take unless you look at your invoice or look at your account in ebay.

I paid 70 in fees last month

eBay really gets you with their 'TEN CENT AUCTIONS WOW!' incentives, I wish they showed the actual calculated final fees on the auction creation page so you know how deep they were actually gonna reach in your pocket

3 out of 5 of my last sales & purchases ended up getting done outside of ebay, I find more and more people willing to deal outside of ebay after a short chat with them, saves us both $$.

Yeah I've done likewise lately, I'll post an auction and often ask current high bidders if they'd be willing to settle outside ebay for what I'm looking to get, works the other way as well. The only downside is you lose some transaction protection by not having ebay involved, but I've never really gotten burned outside of a customs debacle
