Just look at this auction I found(yes I deliberatly searched for toilet paper at the highest price, I was bored) http://cgi.ebay.com/ONE-Soft-White-...617?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a09aa0079 What are some of the more ridiculous auctions you have seen(probably most since about 90% of the people there are illiterate)? Sorry I just felt the need to show this to someone, I mean really?
I've seen "WLAN cables", various peoples' virginity, organs, missile silos, VTOLs, and even a battleship of some sort. So what if some people don't take eBay seriously? As long as noone's stupid enough to bid... (The silo, VTOL and battleship were serious offers, btw.) I'd be more concerned about the people selling love spells, magic rings or whatever other random esoterical trinkets you can think of, since there's actually a market full of gullible retards for cheap crap that.
I sold my old CPU on ebay a few weeks ago. Specified shipping to US only. In the description said "US shipping only". A guy from Italy won the item. I decided it would be easier to eat the cost of the item and shipping rather than fight with ebay to get a negative feedback removed. Dumbass.
any questions about my new jet? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...874&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:B:WNAFP:DE:1123
Heres another, the domain, bestoninter.net for $1,680,000. http://cgi.ebay.com/Best-domain-nam...512472374?pt=Domain_Names&hash=item2eaf798536 And I think this guy is for real: http://cgi.ebay.com/IM-SELLING-NOTH...266?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb0a450fa I think he must have been on something. And I bet someone will make an offer.
All the times I've specified US shipping eBay usually forbids bidders registered out of the country from bidding on items. I've had requests from people out of the country and have had them agree to a higher shipping rate if they won only to tell me they flat out can't bid. Several hours later and I usually can't find the tick box to fix it.
Plenty of auctions over time for SU and MIG jets that are restricted to military airspace only that can be owned by civilians. Tanks too. Once showed a teacher of mine back in highschool a MIG that was on eBay. He said it was a deathtrap and not worth the 240k they wanted. Why would you want to buy a jet and be restricted to <mach 1?
Most Outrageous Price For A Game, Ever! http://cgi.ebay.com/Snatcher-Sealed-Brand-New-Rare-Collectors-Item-Sega-CD-/110591984927?pt=Video_Games&hash=item19bfcbc51f I can understand $400-$500 maybe, but this absolute bullshit.
Another example: Was 35 quid BIN, but noooo, someone had to bid... http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220681259904&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Ended at 53 pounds. (I already own this game, was tempted to buy it now because it was a steal, but then someone bid before I had the chance to BIN)
Good point. Yeah, a bid lower than the BIN price cancelling the BIN function is one of the worst decisions eBay made. That, and forcing newbies to offer PayPal without checking if they have an account (No I won't hand over the dough without any kind buyer's insurance if you haven't proven your credibility! Couldn't finish so many auctions because of this, it's not even funny). Topic applies.
Well... from the way he was talking about it, it sounded like he thought the guy was serious. Otherwise why would it be such an anomaly?
