Now, I hate using ebay at the best of times but now a problem has unsurprisingly finally reared its head. Last week I sold this item: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk:80/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...ADME:B:RTQ:UK:1 As per usual I went out of my way to make sure the buyer recieved it promptly and apparently it arrived today. Unfortunately he is claiming the contrary when it comes to the description of the disc, When I listed the item the game disc was free of any kind of surface scratches but now he claims he's unhappy with it and its arrived scratched. When the game arrived the disc wasn't held secure in the spindle so it may have taken a few knocks on the journey but he claims "These are the scratches of gaming with a crummy laser, ill handling etc" which makes me even more dubious. I've had a no returns policy because everything I've listed in the last 6 years has been as described, The guy is apparently contacting ebay and paypal and has sent me a couple emails where his conduct isn't the greatest. Does anyone have any advice?
I have had discs that didn't work due to scratches on the surface. Tell your buyer you are sorry, that the item was fully functional and unscratched when you sent it. That you don't have a returns policy, but you'd gladly pay for the disc to be cleaned. This generally costs no more than £3 in most UK games stores. Once that has been done, it will probably be absolutely fine. I've only once had a disc that never played after it was dealt with and that was more of a cut than scratch. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and get the monkey off your back! If he does involve eBay, you can atleast state you offered to have the disc sorted out, they'll probably find in your favour.
If he is threatening you with bad feedback then offer him the same in kind. If he goes through with it then return the favour. Also I would email paypal and highlight your side of the story incase they refund him his money.
Depends on the price.....if it's a low cost item then you'll lose more money fighting it just by the wasted time.
get all your money off Paypal ASAP and ignor him... if he is threatening you then leave him the negative feedback - probably he already left one for you...
Kron, TBH you will just have to run out the dispute with Paypal to the best of your ability, if his previous record is dubious, they may look in your favour. However Paypal tend to favour the buyer, so if it was an expensive item you sold you may want to reply to the buyer offering a full refund once he has returned the game via recorded delivery.
Give him the money back if you value 1. Not getting your account smeared with bad feedback 2. Paypal locking down your shit, and using up one of your "strikes" before they make you prove inventory of everything you sell.
