If you authorize a return, ebay demands you fully refund them before the return arrives.

    Two days.

So basically people can return a box with a rock in it and get a full refund thanks to this
    deliberate ebay policy.

I don't know where you're getting this info from. I've just had a return experience, here's how it went:

    - Buyer opened a claim and requested a refund
    - I accepted, return began
    - He shipped it to me
    - I received it
    - eBay then reviewed the item and 10 days later refunded the buyer out of my account

It wasn't all that simple though, because PayPal was taking fucking forever to "investigate" the case and the buyer was getting antsy. I ended up just manually sending him the money through PayPal so that he could be reassured, but yesterday when the case was finally closed, they sent him another $275 USD from my PayPal account. I talked to him about it and he agreed to send me back the extra, but PayPal seriously needs to get its shit together. It's incredibly tempting to start up my own payment system and buying/selling website.

Other than that, I've only ever refunded a buyer once, and this is the only return I've ever had. eBay isn't as bad as most people claim it to be honestly.

Did you not see the part where I mentioned that your information was incorrect?

When did this start happening because I never saw my refunds until after the items were received by the sellers. I wasn't even that mad that I had to eat the cost of shipping both ways which on both instances was close to $75.

You actually can't send it back you need to pay a for a return label, when tracking shows it arrives, you then have to refund. (how it is on eBay australia).

There is/was a loophole in the system of a return. The seller can accept a return and refuse a shipping label, then there's apparently a 23 day wait till eBay 'steps in'. I contacted eBay about this when I had a return. The seller was refusing to accept upon damaging the item before it was even sent out. They just forced the refund in my favor after that. It also pays not to a be a cock about a return, because not only did the seller not get their item back, they also have a negative balance now.

As a buyer, I have never gotten my money back until the product made it back to the seller and it was confirmed by the tracking number...

As a seller and buyer, I have been stung by EBay and PayPal. One buyer wasn't happy with her item and claimed it was damaged in the post, despite it being packaged to withstand a bomb blast. EBay sided with her and automatically refunded her from my paypal, she never sent the item back. I look forward to the day EBay falls flat on it's arse!

It's the reason why I don't want to sell on there any more. It's just far, far too favoured in the buyer's favour. Most the time the staff at eBay barely know how things operate either.

I had some douche Buy Garou Densetsu Special For Mega CD from me, barely had a knick in it, buyer left good feedback, to later tell me it wouldn't load during a certain part of the game. send him a return ship label, get it back, and the dick used a disc doctor on it and made the disc look like it was drug on a carpet... to make matters worse, it worked fine in my unit, so why in the hell did he disc doctor it to hell and make my game look like crap? i told ebay that i had High def pics of condition and they instantly refunded the price back to me that i had originally been paid, AND they Refunded the buyer..... but yea, after that, i sell everything without warranty expressed or implied. too easy to get screwed.
