Why is it that anytime I use the best offer feature people try to low ball. A certain dude who shall not be names offered this: $70 for "For Baten, Skies of Arcadia, , both Zelda's , phantasy star online 1&2 and ph. star 3," Now $70 would be a bargain for a near mint PSO Plus, the version I actually have on eBay, but this guy seems to think he'll get most of the RPGs on the whole system for that price. Anyone else run in to this crap? seems like every time I either get someone who does this or I have a dozen who watch but can't be bothered to make an offer. Many times when they do make an offer they do it through the eBay message system rather than thru the actual best offer button.
Use the "automatically reject if lower than" feature to deal with low ballers. Being constantly rejected might give them the hint to quit low-ballin'
Hmm i might have to use that too, for my old (but re-furbished) v35 coupe skyline rims. Got them up for $550 (cost me $700+ to re-furbish) & have dudes offer $250.
yeah you can set it to auto reject anything below a set amount probably best option if you dont want to look at peoples low offers because you will get them, most likely from borke gamers looking a cheap ebay deal or resellers looking to make a profit
Yep I recently used auto reject and it saved me the hassle of looking at 4 offers I wouldn't have accepted. You still get people sending messages through ebay asking if you'll take a certain amount but not much you can do about that.
The other way around, some seller's idea of "best offer" is 50c less. Other times I've sent an offer and the reply is "That's less than what I have it listed for!!!!" wat?
I honestly just don't understand some people. If you don't want to accept a lower price, then don't give the option :\
Yet others are dumb as a rock... Awhile back I sold some trading cards, some idiot wanted just the Digimon cards and I had a buy it now at $200, I refused to break up the lot but told him to make an offer, If he had offered $40 I would have taken it but he never made an offer, while he was acting like a 5 year old someone else bought it at full price. Now days a low ball offer is a one way ticket to my block list, refusal to make a proper offer contacting me in unreadable engrish will do the same.
I get people who throw $50 offers on stuff that is $500, then send a message, "your shit ain't worth jack shit." hahahahah. Yea auto-reject is probably the best feature. I generally set it at least halfway as anyone above half the offer generally will continue to negotiate to a meeting point that I will sell at. Edit: Goddamit Hex, stop changing your avatars. I didn't realize it was you until after re-reading the thread.
Here's a general rule when it comes to making best offers on ebay, if you don't go too low with your offer most people will accept or make a counter offer that works in your favor for example there was an ebay user that was selling a few copies of Sonic Adventure Limited Edition (the kiosk version not the Hollywood Video version) for $38.99 each (they've since changed the price to $36.99) and I only had about $34.99 in my bank account at the time, so I decided to try my luck and make an offer of $32.99 and a day later the user gave me a counter offer of $34.99 which I didn't accept right away because I was waiting to get paid so I could deposit the needed money into my account, however I knew I would be able to pay because I got paid that same day and was able to get the money in so once I was sure everything was good to go I accepted and now have a copy of Sonic Adventure Limited Edition in my collection.
