Ecco the Dolphin shop pre-release?

came accross this MCD copy of ecco the dolphin.
the strange is, it's only the naked disc 1 in a blank jewel case, but which is still sealed.



for what where those supposed to be? kinda pre-release for shops?

 

It will be a sample CD I bet. What's the cat' number on it? The Game Arts Silpheed is like that as well.

I think the original Ecco had 6265 if I'm not mistaken.

It's the full game, was given to journalists to review, it's one of the few games that doesn't have Sample splashed over it. It'll probably add $10 to $20 to the value of it but as it's nothing special (and it's something that anyone could get done) I can't seeing it have that much collector value.
