Hi. I have Toy Story 2 which has several .STR files on it. I replaced one, named exactly the same (TT.STR = Travellers Tails intro) I used MAGIC.ISO to do it. However, it will not boot. I mean, I get 'incorrect headers' and all. But this is because MAGIC.ISO can not save it correctly. I think I need to set it to MODE2. What program should I use to edit the game disc? Can I even edit it? I mean, does it have a checksum it knows of?? Thanks
First dump the games in CloneCD forrmat. XA CDDA data can't be contained within the ISO container format only the .BIN / .IMG format support that, to extract XA or STR data use CDMage, it should then have RIFF¤???.CDXA as part of the header. The imported files have to be either smaller or a perfect byte size match, never bigger.
Thank you very much. I will try that right now and reply with the results... Also, I guess I should link this topic to my other topic http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33543 And this http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=45195
OK I have already done this. I remember doing this this morning... I get an error. "Imported file must be RIFF CDXA type" Any ideas? File size is SMALLER that the one I am overwriting as for the CDMage way but I get that error... Please let me know. As for PIMP, this is for Toy Story 2 PAL. PIMP does not work. Boots, but just says "LOCATING FILES AND DETERMINING RESOLUTION" That was using a .STR I made, with PIMP 0.12, .CUE with .BIN processed with 'makeisoEUR'.
Did you check the header? If you need to make longer videos you'll need to re-encode them to a lower quality using sony's movie convertor v3.4 which only runs properly on win9x os's.
MODE2 / 2352 I dont need to make longer videos at this stage. This is just a test... http://www.tales-cless.org/docs/thepsxdoc2.txt
I meant the header of the STR's your importing not the image. Scan your images with http://kenai.com/projects/jpsxdec/pages/Home and make sure the STR's playback with audio without any errors in the image reported.
"Disc image does not have RAW headers -- Audio may not be detected" However, my file does NOT have any audio. I un-checked that in MC32 (.AVI to .STR conversion). Warnings: 0 Errors: 0 All good so far
It shouldn't be a problem to import / export str's with or without audio as it's how I semi managed to restore some audio in the leaked biohazard builds. http://z4.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_1_2_3/index.php?showtopic=1023&hl=
I dunno. It's annoying. Been trying all day... PIMP does not even work (PS: Do you have version 0.19 of it?)
Wait. I tried a different .STR (my first one I made) and that worked in PIMP. Burned it to a CD-ROM using Alcohol120% at the SLOWEST BURNING SPEED. Works fine, but the bottom half of the image (7% of the overall height) is 'looped'. Incorrect height of the original video was specified. However, I still can not replace the Toy Story 2 files in CDMage. I will try replacing Tony Haws Skateboarding instead. Maybe it had hidden read errors as it was not from an original???? I will post tomorrow for the fix I did to solve it...
lolwat? No. PIMP. PlayStation Intelligent Movie Player. It was programmed by Ceddy, and it lets you burn several .STR's to be played off of a PS CD-ROM on a Modchipped console. I did it yesterday (before this post) and it worked. But, the bottom half of the image was 'wrapped' from the top. So it had a quarter of the image again being played at the bottom. If you dont know what PIMP is then you should try it. If im wrong and you do know PIMP, then did Ceddy copy it off from ADR?
