Hello! Recently I started with this project, since I really want to see this game translated and I enjoy playing with reverse engineering. The text seems really easy to translate, since they are plain text files where all the dialogue is stored. The problem comes with the textures. I managed to see and edit the uncompressed "*.PVR" textures, but those are not important. The important textures seems to be stored on the "*.MRG" files, apparently compressed with LZSS (Lempel–Ziv–Storer–Szymanski) algorithm, but I can't figure out a proper way to handle it. Our really well-experienced user yzb37859365 made a translation to the Chinese language, so I really hope he could help with this. I think a script for QuickBMS could be really helpful, but I'm really lost. Thank you in advance!
The MRG file is a package collection of some small files. Usually the files inside it are LZSS like compressed files, and the decompression source is in memory 8C019F78, that is, at the address 0x9F78 of the main program file 1_SGGG.BIN.
If you are interested in translating this game, I suggest you get in contact with these guys who have tried translating the game little by little over the past 10 or so years. http://www.adilegian.com/Segagaga/
Somebody please get this done! If i had any sort of relatable experience (none) i would definitely help.
