I don't understand the fascination with GT, I played the first one loved it and it's still the best imo, i've played GT2-GT4 as well a GT5 P but I just don't get any excitement about it anymore it feels boring and the car physics make the cars turn like buses not to mention the overall look of game with it's limited colour pallette hasn't progressed since GT3.
The only sim / racer i'm semi looking forward to is codemasters new f1 game but even then it's being watered down to cater to arcade players, I just want a decent sim on the consoles that has decent physics and damage modeling.
Gran Turismo doesn't even have half of these features http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_racing_simulators and they've only just thought about a weather system since codemasters are building one for the updated ego engine.

 

While i do understand your point (even though i disagree with it), this is NOT the topic to discuss it.

 

I can understand that you want to say. and I have same opinion as Jonney.
in the past, in somewhere, existed lot of dispute such a thing.

Physics engine is important, but it is not at all. besides, the weather and the car damage are not important for me.
the 100% precision does not have even the simulation that a actual car manufactures.
"Realistic" different from "Real". actual formula cars never idle on 3000rpm, it's never drive by gamepads.
should drive a actual car if you want to feel physical behavior such as the ultimate real feel.

expencive Ferrari and cool racing cars are splendid, but also happy to run at circuit that I cannot visiting by my car actually. this is first reason of purchase GT.



at second; as a result of having enjoyed various of car games some released from Codemasters included.
I sympathize with GT most. what is necessary or unnecessary?
I've seen G.I.Joe on the podium, team owner said "Well done !" on radio and animation after race, circuit on the cave, and unsophisticated promotions, on many "Realistic" car games.
Codemasters doing good job, but interface in their games and promotion method are inferior to PD.

GT has lot of stuff from 1997. I enjoy the videogame and also collection for an atmosphere like the archeologist something.
I think most Beatles collectors have listened other rock or popular music. however, they will not collect something of Oasis or Lady Gaga stuff. that's the way collector is.

For me whilst GT was grounding breaking back in ps1 days for me it hasn't progressed enough, adding higher polygon models isn't enough it's still lacking atomsphere, the envelope isn't being pushed anymore and they aren't looking into newer techniques of doing things which is why I said GT hasn't change much since GT3 they already know it'll sell like hotcakes because there resting on the fans that will put up with anything no matter how bad just because it's got the GT PD mark which was a mark of quality in the past.

 

Again, this is NOT the topic to discuss what you, me, or anyone else think of the GT series. This is a collection topic.

If you think PD is lazy, the game hasn't evolved that much... Create a topic under the correct sub-forum or keep that to yourself. I won't warn you the third time.

Great stuff Edward. You may remember me (I emailed you a long time ago!). Since then been collecting myself (non-GT items). I am now looking towards collecting many GT5 items when it arrives. I live in the UK so I really only have eBay :crying:. At the moment I am looking for GT HD Boxed. No luck so far!

Also these promotional items (the posters/book things i.e. Summer 2010 PS3 book) are fantastic. I would really like those but very hard to get on eBay. Never seen them. Keep collecting and posting here. It is very good we have collectors in this world - for me they preserve a little part of history. A great task to do.

I'll continue collecting them. ... only in case of the proper price.

however, there may be stuff distributed to only huge chain store like before...

I've some trial, demo and test discs as posted before. never seen "Beta" for GT series.
