Basically, as title says, what TV series finale that you loved made you "Die inside" as they put it. (Crushed, sad).

Mine was Courage the cowardly dogs ending, LOST ending, and home improvement ending.

    Yours?

The original Astro Boy (Mighty Atom?) not that re-vamped shit. I remember when I was a kid that really upset me.

Every night after Home and Away knowing it will be on the next night..... wife's a fan.

The Shield's finale was pretty crushing.

The Lost ending is probably the most egregious examples. I love these characters and saying goodbye to that cast left me feel quite gutted indeed.

Exact same thing happened to me recently with another Bad Robot-produced show, which is Fringe. And I just finished watching it not a week ago, so it's still pretty vibrant in my mind, but it's in the same wheelhouse, it left me a bit empty inside, knowing I wouldn't see these characters again.

Although to be honest I must be a sucker for these kinds of endings because almost all my favorite shows (Twin Peaks, Lost, Serial Experiments Lain) have at the very least had a bittersweet ending to them...

But at least it was perfectly in character and made sense.

For me it was Evangelion. While the ending on the TV shows was cryptic, the movies ending really pissed me off. All my favorite characters die, the world is f'ed, and Shinji is even more pathetic. The show and movie was awesome though, despite the terrible ending. I actually got a little depressed after I watched End of Evangelion...

Home Improvement ended? What's this then? Is it different to Home Improvement? LOL
I definitely echo the Evangelion cries from above. Hideki Anno does seem to have a habit of creating bad endings...
I can remember watching it as a teenager, thankfully I don't think the end movies were aired here...
How happy I was to rediscover Evangelion some years later... only to find... ughhhhh... :grief:

Lost just pissed me off in the end. I loved that show but it jumped the shark when it went from sci-fi to spiritual.

Neither crushed me as such but it was heck of a memorable week seeing the finales of Lost and 24 - both finished within days of each other and my wife and I had been following both since season 1... it was strange looking back realising we'd followed both for all those years. I guess also glad they finished - both had clearly run their course and it was time to bury them once and for all. 24 had essentially become the same formula and you could tell they really had just run out of ideas... I mean how many times can Jack Bauer save the world? He should've had the keys to the city many seasons before it ended... Lost, hmmm... great stuff but I never bought the finale with the Jacob and his brother speaking in clear American accents in a time that was supposedly way before America had even been colonised (unless I missed something?!) - I liked it, but I do feel the ending could have been worked on a bit more... it was running out of steam and I'm just grateful they didn't drag it out, as happens to almost all successful TV series. The strange thing about Lost is that as much as we can criticise the story - it really was about the characters. Even if you got lost in the plot, you could still follow each character's personal journey and come away with something... confused or not. It was a rare breed.Yeah, I don't think it will be easy to top that week.

The characters were the worst part of Lost, other than the ending. Shallow, stupid and unengaging. The ending was just a "well, we're screwed, let's wrap up what we can" kind of ending.

Deadwood was another horrible ending. (Bad Guy): Well, I guess it's time to leave for no reason.

I think the Bebop ending is more open ended if you know what to look for.
Sadly I got kicked out of an Anime Club for pointing it out.

I have been a big movie watcher for most of my life but i haven't been a big tv show person until the last few years, as i cannot relate to any shows ending yet i am very saddened by my two favorite tv shows coming to their end soon as both are going to be on their final season Dexter and Breaking Bad. I don't know how ether of them will end but if anyone else is a fan i hope im not the only one who thinks that for the show Dexter to end on a high note he ( Dexter ) has to die, i also think this applies to breaking bad , mr white must go and have Jessy become the king pin , them going to jail or going on the run just wont do it for me, anyone else?

Lost would be the best example.

Then Heroes, John Doe, Firefly, Dark Angel, Terra Nova, but anyway all these have been cancelled so they didn't got the chance for a proper ending.
