Engadget was given a TEST-labeled PS3 unit (debug PS3) for playing-previewing purposes. http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/03/unpacking-our-playstation-3-with-video/ play games on burned BluRay discs  Source, from Engadget ( http://www.engadget.com/ ) -Concura
Ign had those since last night The PS2 TEST units were far more sexier (in terms of the TEST logo vs the commercial unit). Also, I can't imagine "facing" the Ps3's drive-side (most pictures show it at 3/4 or its side), the design is kind of lacking from that angle.
it sure doesnt come for cheap though how much does a test unit go for from SONY to the licensed parties?
ZOMG UNBOXING!11 I seriously don't get it, one of the pictures shows the empty box. Are you supposed to orgasm over the box emptying? Same with any other unboxing event. The GUI show off is nice, but I want to see some games! GAMES!
I can envision scratches.. assloads of them... second or third hand Ps3 units will look like smudgy-cut arse.
Think about the dust. My XBox and Saturn have a lot of coast coated on them, something shiny should show up more dust.
which will also be a problem with Wii. I can imagine the plastic on wii going yellow in 5-6 years from now..horrible...
Im hoping that nintendo might have used decent plastic this time, but i highly doubt it. I hope the wii eventually comes out in that lovely green colour i saw when they were showing the mock up pics. Whites ok for now but its a bit boring, definately not black though as it would look just as bad as the ps3 does in all its nasty shiny glory.
The wii isnt as shinny as its renders. Hell, it isn't even in the same league of glossiness as the ipod or the DSlite either. It's just glossy single layered plastic (unlike the ipod or say the PShome button on the PS3 controller)
