    Hi everyone,

I want to expand my ps1 and dreamcast library a bit and was wondering if there are some good Japanese PS1/dreamcast games that are in English or playable without knowing any Japanese.
(This rules out every Japanese RPG I guess...)
Could you guys help me out?

    Thanks!

Japanese exclusive Dreamcast games in no particular order:

    Cosmic Smash
    Samba de Amigo v2000
Zero Gunner 2 (together with a hell of a lot other shmup's e.g. Border Down, Ikaruga, Under Defeat etc)
    Cool Cool Toon
    Napple Tale
    Puyo Puyo Fever
    Space Channel 5 Part 2
    SEGA Tetris
    Pop'n Music (1, 2, 3 append, 4 append)
And if you like 2D fighters you also got various Guilty Gear, King of Fighter and Street Fighter releases

    Dreamcast REZ
Be sure to place this with a force pack. The controller really kicks to the music beats in this rail shooter. Oh and play it on a VGA monitor.

While this is an awesome game, it's not a Japanese exclusive, this title also got a European release. Important to note; the Japanese version has the option to be played in English! :)

Isn't the Japanese version more common than the European version? If so, I might just get the Japanese version since it can be played in English.

Snowboard Kids Plus is a great PS1 import. Doesn't really require japanese knowledge to play. You may need to know katakana to get through the menus but thats really about it.

Okay fine, exclusive NTSC REZ then. A great import game to search for if one lives in the US.

There is also the K-Project Vibes version with different music tracks for the Dreamcast.

My earlier mention of a Vibration pack, get the light up Mad Catz version, it really kicks!

Most any shooter (and the DC had a lot of Japan only ones) should be easy enough, if you need help there's usually some guides online for navigating the menus.

A couple Dreamcast puzzles that I like:

    Get Colonies
    Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles

Twinkle Star Sprites is a cutesy shooter that is fun.

    PS1 games:

    Gungage
    Raiden DX
    Gatchaman the Shooting
    In the Hunt
X2 No Relief (Japanese text, but voiced in English)
    Gunners Heaven
    DoDonPachi

I know DoDonPachi released on the Saturn but I didn't know it was released on PS1. Is it better on Saturn or PS1? Was the game released on any other platform?

Great! I'll search for some gameplay videos of those games!
