Hello all I am trying this Enigmah thing. I have downloaded the file (2 versions of it) Extracted via winzip burned to cd first then tried DVD-R and neither work. I have tried burning the un zipped folder, then tried burning the few files inside the folder. And no go. My XBOX recognises the disc shows the folder/file size but when I go to select it, it shows nothing. I have tried through the EVOX media center as well and no go. The best I got was when I tried another version (which was a bigger download), and when extracted this unzipped into 2 folders and the XBOX would open the 3 or 4 picture files. WTF am I doing wrong. I thought I could just burn it to a cd/dvd and open it through that and maybe copy it to the HDD?
Because I don't know how.... Software stuff and I don't get on. I guess I am going to have to learn, does anyone know of step by step instructions? Is it easiest to get an ethernet CROSSOVER cable, which is for direct connection to the PC? Edit I have 2 PC's Laptop has windows 7 Desktop has Windows XP either or?
cross over isnt needed. Just plug the xbox into your router/switch/hub and it should get an IP automatically. You can then FTP into the xbox on that ip address, port 21 with user/pass of xbox/xbox most likely. What dashboard is running on the xbox? I assume its already modded as you mentioned evox
Yes it was modded years ago (sheesh guessing at around 2006, I do remember it cost me about $300-350 to do though!) before I got into console modding (you know the older Sega etc stuff hardware). This one is actually the 2nd modded XBOX as my first had a Thomson drive, which died. Me being silly just bought a replacement which turns out to be a V1.6 with Samsung drive. It has an Aladdin 2 chip installed, 160GB HDD, which has a few emulators on it. Always wanted Sega on there, but the guy that did the mod didn't have Sega emulators. He tried telling me that Sega and TG16 was the same thing........(lol's). I have a had a few youtube links and it looks ok, I am just nervous I will bust either 1/The XBOX or 2/(more importantly) the PC (my wife would cut me) I thought the dashboard was EVO X? Again, don't know much about modded XBOX's.... I just played the thing lol! The only other thing on it is XBOX Media Centre same as this one allthough mine is probably an older version as the menu is slightly different. I see that this is the place you change the DHCP networkey doo-hickey (lol) here. I see that can be updated to via FTP as well. Simply copy over, do a rename and off you go. My problem I think though since mine is so old, I am not sure if it would work. This XBOX has also always had a qwirk, where if I turn it on by pressing the disc drive door it comes up with the "Servicing Error". When I turn it on proper, I need to hold the power on button for say 2 seconds. The other minor qwirk is the temperature gauge on the evo screen always shows like 5deg C.... Hey thanks for replying as well, hardware stuff for me (ie physical "hey I can touch this") repairs are fairly easy. When it comes to this "invisible" stuff......For example I had an XBOX repair with a crazy drawer, thought it would be the typical belt, nope under the drawer is a switch with 2 poles. Diss-assembled the switch and it worked perfectly.
Download a FTP client (flashfxp) and enter your xboxes IP address, port 21, user/pass of xbox/xbox. Connect and you should get the hard drive layout. From there you should find F drive has folder in it (like apps/games/emulators) upload enigmah to a folder within apps, then on xbmc you can use the file manager to browse to that folder and run it. Nothing to it.
Sweet, thanks again. I have to grab either ethernet cable, which I will do today. Can I do it on either computer I have? Does the operating system matter? My XBMC doesn't have the "SCRIPTS" tab if that indicates age. Can I use either of my PC's? Does anyone know why my XBOX has either of these qwirks? Doesn't really matter, just something I have to keep in mind, my 1st modded XBOX didn't do that. The dude I had do it was a bit awkward to deal with (as in insisting Sega and TG16 are the same thing). I downloaded FileZilla last night, is that ok or go as you recommended?
Filezilla works well so thats fine, when you have it hooked up open filezilla then enter the xbox's IP address (this can be found by going to settings>network and then toggle right to IP and hit enter to switch auto DHCP. default dashboard or static and you'll see the IP address) then enter user and password as xbox and port as 21 . You will then see the file structure of the xbox hdd of C/E/F, now double click each partition till you see the XBMC folder which will most likely be in E/ or E/Apps, either way you want enigmah to be placed in Apps .In the right hand window of filezilla browse to where the enigmah folder is, in the left window double click on apps folder to open it and then right click on the enigmah folder and select download. Then just watch it transfer and once its done disconnect filezilla and go to your xbox and run enigmah .
I spoke to a local guy today that does XBOX360 repairs. I saw an ad for him elsewhere on the NET and took the assumption he would of ass'ed about with XBOX's BITD. Luckily I was right, he said that to use the crossover cable and set it to Static. Also to set the IP address on my PC/Laptop. I also noticed that most the youtube clips weren't using the EVO dash, so that was giving me grief as it wasn't like for like. So I did a search and found this helpful (for me) site. http://versatile1.wordpress.com/201...x-that-has-evolution-x-dashboard-or-unleashx/ Another issue I had was that EVO said my IP was one thing, but XBOX Media Centre said it was another (the last number was different). EVO said the last digit was 2, XBOX Media Centre said it was 3. So I set XBMC to 2 (to match EVO's idea of what it should be). I set up the laptops IP address as indicated on that link above and all was good. Once I put the unzipped folder into the E: Apps folder, I had to use the XBMC file browser to find and activate the NTSC mode. Before this I tried it on my PC via the router/modem but it didn't work. Having said that it didn't occur to me the difference between the IP addresses (EVO vs XBMC) until after I bought it back out to the laptop. I also had a problem where the FTP username would randomly change between "xbox" and "?0?". Stuff me why it did that! Anyway, all's well that ends well and I can FTP my XBOX, which I hadn't done before. Thanks again for your help!
