    Hello all,

Well, I don't often visit this area of the forum, so here I am

I'd very much like to ask some Eeprom related questions please, as tbh I haven't a clue.

Right, I need an eeprom programmer. I'm mainly going to be using it for Jamma PCBs, UniBIOS, Mega CD Bios and resurecting CPS2 boards ;-) I understand these are mostly 16bit 27CXXXX eproms. I've come across this programmer on Ebay. It seems to cover most stuff I need, and it's certainly better than the £450+ units I've seen. Is this cool, or could anyone recommend a better/more suitable one please?

Now, on to the Eeprom thingies themselves..... I'm damn confused. Basically my MultiBIOS Mega CD arrived broken (due to a game of Postie Football) and the guy I got it off is now arsing me around. So basically, I'm back to square one and having to do the mod myself (I have no fear). Now, I know that I need a 16bit 512k eeprom to hold four 128k BIOSs. I was told I would need a 27C240, but the guy I got my Mega CD off was using a 27C4096 (iirc). So, how do I understand the compatability of eeproms and stuff? Are all 512k 16bit eeproms/eproms the same, other than the pinout? obviously not if they all have different numbers.

I'm also wanting to get a UniBIOS in my Neo. So off I go looking for 27C1024 eeproms a simple task, one would assume. Um, what do all the suffixes mean? i.e - 27C1024 - 15XF6 or 27C1024 - 90C1??

Some of the stuff seems logical, like a 1024k Bios being a 27C1024. But the rest of all this is very confusing. An 'Idiot's guide to e/eproms' would be very useful...

Also, anyone recommend any places to purchase e/eproms from please (mainly 1024s and whatever for my Mega CD)?

If anyone could help I'd be very, very grateful. I've got several Jpn/US Mega CD games sat there, and I can't play 'em. God, I wanna play Final Fight and Popful Mail soooo badly. And a Neo's always happier with a UniBIOS.

Oh, and if anyone does need e/eproms writing, I'd be happy to do it if you post the chips and include return postage.

Thanks for any help guys.:banghead::icon_toil
