Hi everyone, I know some legitimate SNK MVS boards have EPROMs on them (many of which are uncovered inside the case). How long will eproms last uncovered like that? Should people worry about this? How much more life would you get by covering them to protect from ambient light leaking in?
Don't worry about it. Unless you keep the carts in a room that gets a lot of sunlight or something I don't think any UV light is going to be a problem. If you are worried just open it up and put a small piece of electrical tape on the window. If you actually did get bit rot you can have the eprom desoldered and reprogrammed.
