Error 0110

Discussion in 'Xbox 360 Development' started by CLK Rebellion, Oct 3, 2009.

  1. Hey everyone,
    A friend of mine just got RRoD on his kit - 0110 was there error code. This is a memory error, correct?

    If not, could someone please correct me?

    Most likely, yes.

  3. Okay, any ideas for a fix? Apparently when he starts up the kit, it crashes, has red squares and verticle lines on the frame when it crashes. And oh yeah, apparently he was having problems before with it, but today when he was opening his kit, he noticed that the thermal paste had somehow vanished, so he applied some more and let it cool, etc. and it worked for a while.

    Could he have missed applying the paste somewhere?

    It most usually occurs when there is a broken solder joint on the RAM's chips, but it could also mean the RAM is screwed, somehow.

  5. So I'm guessing he should attempt to resolder the broken joint if there is one?

    Good luck resoldering, it's going to need a reflow at the least, or a reball of the ram chips, I'm guessing this is halodudes why he didn't just post idk, but reflow all the ram chips, it's easy, if that doesn't work send if off to get the chips re balled. Or he can try the penny fix on the chips, take a penny wrap it in electrical tape and place it on the bottom of the board to put pressure on the chips, never tried it myself, but it's better then nothing when you can't fix the console the correct way.

  7. How did you guess? Apparently, he doesn't get the verification email or something like that, so I offered to post it for him. I'll be sure to send the message to him. Thanks

    Why are pennies always used? Why not use a quarter (as it is thicker, and provides a greater surface area, meaning more pressure applied to the chip)?

    Pressure = Force / Area.

    Greater area = less concentrated pressure I'd think.

    I don't do hardware stuff anyways really but.. Maybe less concentration, but more area is what you want. So you may be correct, or might not.

    Or it might not matter for crap anyways..

    Because the pennies are too big to begin with, and they are used because they are copper.

    Yeah it may not matter anyway needs to be reballed, but your right, smaller and greater area so it makes better contact.
