As usual, Alec comes to ASSEMbler for feedback on medical-related things. Hah! Anyways, I've had a friend recommend ***** (**********) to me for my terrible anxiety problems. I'm on the fence, in a way, in that I normally don't like to think about a chemical altering my mind - I know I drink a lot and that does something, but this is a little more serious than getting drunk. I have a fear of not being in control of myself, but realistically I completely lose control of myself and become seemingly a different person when I'm having an anxiety attack (or something lesser, even), so I'm really not too worried anymore. Does anyone have experience with behavioral drugs? [don't you dare bring up marijuana, even as a joke] Have they helped? Do you take them regularly? Do you ever feel literally different while on them, instead of just more of your normal self? I'm going to the psychiatrist this week, hopefully. Hooray, I'm back on mommy and daddy's insurance!
I didn't realize my serious inquiry about a prescription drug that start with an X and is five letters long that is for treating anxiety disorders was going to be censored, let alone the proper name for it Alpra-zolam. Whatever. Thread ruined. Delete this all if you'd like.
Seriously? WTF? Yes, there's a number of immature twats here but I think we can have an adult conversation about it. We've talked about illegal drugs before, haven't we? I've known people on that. A few. There's no shame in taking it. Only "bad" experience I've had w/ someone on behavioral drugs is I dated a girl and I got to see her real side after her Zoloft prescription ran out. Whoops! This can actually help. I realize where most people would have a laugh with it, but while it does make some people paranoid, it makes others relax.
It's censored automatically by the forum software because spam sellers usually flog such drugs. I remember a forum where "cialis" was blocked, which meant using the word "specialist" would be blanked.
I took this one for a while. (The mexican variant is called Tafil. Is the name censored too?) It was mainly prescribed to help me sleep while I was taking Escitalopram, as the Fluoxetine / Clonazepam combo it was intended to replace was clearly not working anymore. So yeah, alpraz**am is usually prescribed to balance an antidepressant, like escitalopram. In my experience, it's very good. Escitalopram does cure depression, but it makes me severely misanthropic and aggressive, so I stopped taking it after a few months. I wasn't quite myself, but more of an evil, selfish version of myself sometimes. But that's a different story. As to the ***ax you talk about, it almost always made me feel very, VERY relaxed, and really counterbalanced the insomnia many antidepressants give you. As an Anxiolitic, ***ax is quite effective, but you might develop a resistance to it and need a bigger dose. I recall to first get very relaxed and mellow with half a pill, but then needing two pills just to be able to sleep (Fucking escitalopram) a few months later. I've also used ***ax as an unprescribed way to relax, and it works. But you might become addicted, so don't do this. Bottom line - Escitalopram sucked for me, but X**ax did work as prescribed and was pretty awesome at it. Eventually, the resistance you build up might make it useless. I did go back to the Fluoxetine / Clonazepam combo until I was no longer too depressed to get out of bed every once in a while.
Ah, spam filter. I do apologize for my previous hostility, I was certainly not in a fantastic mood (see more: the purpose of this thread) when I wrote that. Unfortunately for me, marijuana definitely makes everything worse. I guess it's just in my circuitry. That, and it has a quite negative connotation in my mind stemming from the people around me that use it, and I couldn't even begin to consider being lumped into a category with them. That's really all I can ask for sometimes. That sort of shit cost me my job. And of course, even if I were the type of person to admit to an employer that there is an unrelated problem that I was trying to overcome, they wouldn't give a fuck and I wouldn't have any say in the matter, legal or otherwise.
Depends on the person and the level of use/abuse, for me it made me really, really bad. I would only suggest it's use in the same way a doctor would when prescribing a new drug. Start small and see what your tolerance to it is, then review regularly. The bad effects of it can creep up on you very slowly and you don't notice. Someone who smokes a blunt every Friday isn't going to have the same experience as someone that lives in a cloud of it 18 hours a day.
[drphill] May I suggest the obvious, if you are going for the 5 letters X word: stop drinking. Or reduce it. It is a really bad combination. A friend of mine almost ruined his life because of it. Also, Marjiuana is known to rise anxiousness levels on the long run (and that I know from personal experience, which is why I quitted it). Now I do not know you, nor am I your official friend, but please be careful and good luck. [/drphill]
I really needed to get on Ritalin, but my parents are not believers in ADHD, They treat it as a joke, so I would be really interested to see your anxiety ones work and if you have any drawbacks from it.
Like I said, to each their own. I can't deny the side effects on either side, as I've experienced them both. And on that note, allow me to take this discussion up a notch saying that a lot of drugs are largely psychological (yes, I know how that sounds). That's to say, the placebo effect is very real, and not well understood.
You are correct, sir. Also, different drugs work differently on different people. A really insane girl I dated was a little bit on the heavy side, and one half of a pill of ***ax would almost knock her out, and she would act all stupid and floaty. But she needed the placebo effect. Her parents were serious alcoholics, too. That probably was a factor. She was bipolar as fuck, and went into hysterics easily. Now, Alecjahn, you might find some use in alprazo***, but if you are treating depression, you need the antidepressant that would be balanced by alprazo***, These substances (***ax, clonazepam) are just to help you sleep or relax because some antidepressants make you very jumpy or come with a side of insomnia.
My brother was prescribed ******** for his knee a few years back. They performed keyhole surgery twice and it basically did jack shit but make the pain worse. He was initially on basic aspirin as a painkiller then upped to something else then ********. It was the worst thing that ever happened to him. He is basically like a zombie now when he is awake and not on the computer. Very bad tempered. Edit: The painkiller he got prescribed began with tramad
Actually, the alprazo*** will end up acting as an anti depressant after building up its levels in the body. However, I woudn't advice to take any medication without a consultation with a psichiatrist. I've been taking alprazo*** for the past 4 years on and off to help me sleep, and so far it's the best medication I took. I used to take 2 miligrams of clonaze*** a night and still be fighting with insomnia. The best medication for each individual is different,
What you say is correct. Alprazo**m is more of an Anxiolitic, but I do see it helping fight depression. And yeah, Clonaz**am is not as effective as alpraz**am. I certainly wouldn't recommend taking anything without seeing a psychiatrist before. Not that he'd be able, because all these meds are prescription only. Even in Mexico, they're hard to get without a lot of papers. I wouldn't even imagine the situation in the civilised world.
I always liked some "val ium" aka "diaz epan" to relax me out. Also in my area legal medical marijauana is easy to get approved for for a small fee of course XD When all else fails a strong dose of any opiate seems to do wonders XD Also mixing alcohol with any other depressant/stimulant/narcotic/psychotropic etc is a bad idea and can/will end up at some point giving you very bad effects.
In the spirit of the medical-themed thread, all the testimonials of bipolar and wacky people (my ex that forgot to take her zoloft was a nutcase) and to celebrate the fact that we have so many English here, remember these tips from Super Hans when taking Magic Mushrooms for the first time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CaNf2I4Ils
